Kingpin, or Wilson Fisk, is the crime ruler of Hell's Kitchen. He started the Sinister Six gang, helped create the Spider-Slayers, and he transformed Smythe, his personal assistant, into the last Spider-Slayer. All of these actions were to destroy Spider-Man, and they almost worked too.

I kind of feel bad for Spider-Man - he keeps getting cloned, and mostly by Jackal. The first clone was Ben Reilly, he became Scarlet Spider and the two of them got along fine. Then Peter was cloned again and this time, Kaine was born. Kaine is constantly trying to destroy Spidey, but he probably never will succeed at that.
