Actually Steamboat won the match. Steamboat jumped to the top rope to perform his finisher, a cross body from the top rope, when Rick Rude saw what was away to happen to him, he pulled the referee in front of the already flying Steamboat. The referee obviously got knocked out for a while.

In the meantime Rick Rude performed a Backbreaker submission on Steamboat, and when the ref woke up he immediately signaled for the timekeeper to ring the bell.
