Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In addition to WWE's main brands, "Raw", "Smackdown" and "ECW", there also used to be an event on Sunday night. This show ran from August 1998 to May 2008, and used the roster of "Raw". What was the name of that show?

Answer: WWE Heat

"WWE Heat" began in 1998 when WWE was still WWF. The show started as a supplement for "Monday Night Raw" and its storylines, and it actually never changed. Even though the show was popular and it sometimes had exclusive matches, it ended on May 2008, as it was replaced by the show "WWE Vintage Collection", which showed old matches.
2. Global warming is one of the biggest environmental problems the planet is facing, since the world is literally getting hotter. In 2002, WWE hosted a Pay Per View called "Global Warning", in which The Rock retained the WWE Undisputed Championship against Triple H and Brock Lesnar. Where did this event take place?

Answer: Australia

"WWE Global Warning" took place on August 10, 2002, in the city of Melbourne, Australia. This was a one-time only event exclusively for Australia, and had 9 matches in it, including matches for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, the WWE Tag Team Championship, and the WWE Undisputed Championship.
3. Regarded as "the biggest event of the summer", "Summerslam" takes place in the sunniest season of them all: summer! This event has witnessed many epic matches in the history of the business. From 2009 to 2013, which city hosted the "Summerslam" event in the Staples Center?

Answer: Los Angeles

The first "Summerslam" took place in 1988, in the Madison Square Garden of New York City. The event is part of the "Big Four" group of WWE events, the others being "Royal Rumble", "WrestleMania" and "Survivor Series", which were the only events to feature wrestlers from all brands after WWE split into "Raw" and "Smackdown" (and later "ECW"), although since 2007, all Pay Per Views showed wrestlers from all three brands.

Personally, I will never forget "Summerslam" 2007, which showed the returns of Rey Mysterio and Triple H, and spiced up the rivalry between Randy Orton and John Cena even more.

The Staples Center of Los Angeles is home of the NBA teams Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.
4. A variation of the Steel Cage Match was introduced in 1997 at "Badd Blood", where Shawn Michaels defeated The Undertaker. One of the most memorable matches of this stipulation is one between Mankind and The Undertaker, where Foley fell in an announce table from the top of the cage! Which word completes the type of match described, ___ in a Cell?

Answer: Hell

The Hell in a Cell cage structure is a bit bigger than the normal steel cage. While the steel cage covers the ring, the structure used for Hell in a Cell covers the ring plus part of the surrounding area, which makes the option of several weapons available to the wrestlers.

One of the most remembered matches of sports-entertainment occurred in "King of the Ring" 1998, when The Undertaker threw Mankind from the top of the cage to the Spanish announce table, and then went on to win the match. That night, The Undertaker wrestled with a broken foot, and Mankind did it with a dislocated shoulder and broken teeth. The cage roof unexpectedly fell in the ring due to the combined weight of the two wrestlers, who received a standing ovation at the end of the match.
5. Scotty 2 Hotty, whose real name is Scott Garland, made his WWF debut in 1997, and spent most of his career partnered with Grand Master Sexay. Which of these titles did Scotty 2 Hotty never held?

Answer: WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Scotty 2 Hotty began his WWF tenure with the ring name Scott Taylor. He was in a tag team with Brian Lawler, son of Jerry Lawler, who wrestled with the names of Brian Christopher and Grand Master Sexay. In 1999, the team known as "Too Cool" added Rikishi to their faction.

Scott first held the Light Heavyweight Championship in April 2000 by defeating Dean Malenko, although he lost it to Malenko ten days later. On May 2000, Grand Master Sexay and Scott defeated Edge and Christian for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Almost a month later, Edge and Christian regained the title. In February 2004, when the company was already called WWE, "Too Cool" defeated The Basham Brothers to win the WWE Tag Team Championship, becoming the eighth tag team to hold that title.
6. The night after "Extreme Rules" 2010 had incredibly hot news cooked up. After being defeated by John Cena in a Last Man Standing Match, this superstar entered "Raw" in a wheelchair. When General Manager Bret Hart decided his loss by forfeit to Randy Orton, he decided to quit the company. Which superstar is this?

Answer: Batista

After a brutal Last Man Standing Match at "Extreme Rules", Batista demanded a rematch in "Raw", and Bret Hart gave him the opportunity to wrestle Randy Orton, that night. Obviously, Batista couldn't wrestle in his conditions, so he lost by forfeit. This angered him, and drove him to announce he quit WWE.

In real life, Batista quit because he didn't like the way the company was being managed and the way it was going, ever since WWE turned to PG ratings. He returned to WWE in 2014.
7. An Inferno Match, one of the most brutal matches in WWE, consists in the two wrestlers competing inside a fire-surrounded ring. In which Pay Per View did the fourth Inferno Match in WWE history, featuring Kane and Montel Vontavious Porter, take place in 2006?

Answer: Armageddon

The match is often related with Kane's gimmick, which is all about fire. The first Inferno Match happened in "Unforgiven" 1998, culminating in the defeat of Kane by The Undertaker. Months later, in April 1999, The Undertaker defeated his storyline brother again in this same type of match. In September 1999, an Inferno Match between Triple H (who won) and Kane, took place in "Smackdown".

In "Armageddon" 2006, Kane faced MVP, whose back was set on fire, therefore losing the match. The wrestlers are always set on fire outside the ring so that they can be safely extinguished soon.
8. Attractive women are often referred to as "hot". What word does the WWE use for its female performers?

Answer: Divas

Even though women have wrestled and shaped an important part of WWE's history since the 1950's, the term "diva" was first used in 1999 by Sable, who referred to herself as a "diva", and since then, the term applied to almost all WWE women on-stage, whether they be wrestlers, ring announcers or interviewers.

Even though there was a Women's Championship in WWE since 1956, the Divas Championship was introduced in "Smackdown" in 2008, since the other title was property of the "Raw" brand.
9. At "Summerslam" 2013, a variation of the Inferno Match was introduced. The Ring of Fire Match had to be won by pinfall or submission, but the ring was surrounded by flames, making the wrestling environment complicated. Which wrestler, who was previously known as Husky Harris, did Kane face in this match?

Answer: Bray Wyatt

While the Inferno Match needs your opponent to be set on fire in order to win the match, the Ring on Fire Match only has the stipulation of surrounding the ring in flames so that there is no outside interference. Despite this, at "Summerslam" 2013, the Wyatt Family found a way to extinguish the fire, and entered the ring to put Kane in disadvantage, making him lose the match.

Bray Wyatt, whose real name is Windham Lawrence Rotunda, had previously been named as Husky Harris in his time in "NXT" and some time in WWE with the stable known as The Nexus.
10. On the July 14, 2003 edition of "Raw", something out of the ordinary happened. Kane was being interviewed while Stone Cold Steve Austin saw everything from the ring. Suddenly, Kane got upset, to the point he set the interviewer on fire! Which WWE commentator suffered Kane's wrath?

Answer: Jim Ross

For some reason, Kane assumed "Good Ol' J.R." was mocking him, so, while the whole arena and Stone Cold Steve Austin watched from the ring, Kane poured gasoline over Jim Ross and set him on fire. It is believed that the person who actually got on fire was a stuntman, as it would be hard to believe that WWE would risk an employee in that manner. Anyway, whoever was on fire was quickly extinguished.
