The Bowler hat was considered to be the type of hat that a servant would wear. In the big cities, the Bowler hat was identified as being worn by more professionals gentlemen. In the 1960s the Bowler lessened in popularity. Now it is rarely seen.

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were known for their hilarious slapstick style of comedy. They were also known for always wearing the bowler hats as part of their style. Other very well known people who wore this style of hat include Charlie Chaplin, the Wright brothers and the toy "Mr. Potato Head".
