Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What movie character wore running shoes and crossed the United States five times?

Answer: Forrest Gump

Forrest ran 15,248 miles in his running shoes. If you go to the Bubba Gump restaurant you can see the route he took. I actually was in a couple of spots where Forrest did run. One was by Grandfather Mountain in Linville, NC by the Blue Ridge Mountains. I also went by Monument Valley where he said he was tired and wanted to go home.

Tom Hanks took home an Oscar for his spectacular performance for Forrest Gump in the 1994 movie about a sweet man who had a knack for being in the right spot at the right time.
2. What singer made millions from his beautiful voice, piano playing and wonderful songs? He wasn't just known for his music, but also his unique glasses. Can you name this singer?

Answer: Elton John

Elton was known for having over 20,000 pairs of glasses. I can only imagine that he had them in every single color. He was also known for his platform shoes in the beginning of his career, but stuck with the glasses over his lifetime.

Reginald Dwight was a no one in 1947 in England, but became one of the most popular singing sensations. He won an Oscar for Best Original Song twice, once for, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" in the movie, "The Lion King". He also won "I'm Gonna Love Me Again" in "Rocketman" which was somewhat of a biography of his life in 2019.
3. This Portuguese actress and dancer used fruit to spruce up her turban hat. Carmen had a few nicknames. What is one of the names she was known as?

Answer: The Brazilian Bombshell

Miranda was a shorter dancer from Portugal. One way to make her appear taller was by adding items to the top of her head. It worked and became her trademark, wearing a hat with bananas, oranges and grapes. Her last movie was with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in "Scared Stiff" in 1953. She also played a mystery guest on the television show, "What's My Line".
4. At the 2010 MTV Awards, who wore a dress made of raw beef?

Answer: Lady Gaga

The reasoning for wearing a 'meat dress' was her protest against the Armed Forces. At that time you weren't allowed to be in the US military if you were gay, but if you don't ask me, I won't tell you the truth.

It was a creation by Franc Fernandez and quite a hit, if I say so myself. We are still talking about the dress over 10 years later. Lady Gaga didn't wear the meat dress all night, but wore it when she received the Video of the Year Award.
5. The 73rd Oscars were filled with stars, diamonds and a swan dress worn by this Icelandic woman. Who is this singer?

Answer: Bjork

Exactly what was Marjan Pejoski thinking when he designed the 'swan dress'? I know that Bjork joked about 'laying an egg on the red carpet', but it was a fun creation for sure. Bjork is from Iceland and has been given numerous awards including over 15 Grammy nominations and was nominated for the Oscar for Best Song for "I've Seen It All".

In regards to that dress, yes we have seen it all now!
6. Sheldon Cooper doesn't have many shirts to wear over the years in "The Big Bang Theory", but you will see him wearing this symbol on some of his shirts. Who is this DC character?

Answer: The Green Lantern

Sheldon likes his comic books and loves to wear his special shirts in each episode. From Batman to Superman to Justice League. Sheldon may have a Ph D but he has a part child in him with his love for comics. Jim Parsons played the role of Sheldon and took home an Emmy three times since 2006, when he started the series.

In the television show, you have four friends who are extremely smart but just because you're book smart doesn't necessarily mean you have to act like a man. Sheldon had his quirks about having to sit in the same spot and wearing only comic book shirts, but he still won the heart of Amy Farrah Fowler and ended up marrying her.
7. Benny Hill was famous for his comical antics in the "Benny Hill Show". He was also known for wearing this famous French hat, both on and off the show. What type of hat is this?

Answer: Beret

Many celebrities have donned the famous French beret over the years, including Audrey Hepburn, Kendall Jenner and even Christina Aguilera. You can style a beret a bunch of different ways. Lucien Laulhere actually was the founder of the beret-maker in 1840. I have heard that the top piece of material is called a nub, point and even a stalk.
8. Charlie Chaplin was known for his silent comedy. When you're attempting to make people laugh and you can't talk you need to be creative. He was known for his twirling of this bow tie. Another comedian, known for his unique laugh, also donned the bow tie. Can you name the character played by Paul Reubens?

Answer: Pee-wee Herman

Laurel from the black and white pictures, "Laurel and Hardy" also wore a bow tie. Isn't that right Ollie? Charlie Chaplin was probably the most famous for donning the bow tie, well him and Pee Wee Herman! Paul took the character into the movies playing the bicycle lover in the movie, "Peewee's Big Adventure".

He wore his red bow tie throughout the movie! I wish I could do the laugh out loud on here! Pierre Lorillard designed the tie in 1886. Some people can recall the tie back as far as the 17th century and maybe even the Romans in BC. Whatever the reason or when it was created, it brought a sense of class to the average men's suit.
9. Getting interviewed by a man in suspenders is a common thing for the people being interviewed by this person. Who is this celebrity born in Brooklyn in 1933?

Answer: Larry King

Larry was known as the 'king' of interviews. He had given over 50,000 in his lifetime. Most of those interviews you can see his famous suspenders and large glasses. I can't mention which would be the most famous interview, but he asked questions from the most interesting people, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor and many more.

He died a single man in 2021, but he was also famous for having 7 wives, marrying one of them twice. He played himself in a few movies, "Ghostbusters", "The Stepford Wives" and "America's Sweethearts" and yes, you can see the famous suspenders.
10. The lead singer of the Culture Club was famous for wearing all sorts of hats. Who is the lead singer in the 80s for this band?

Answer: Boy George

Boy George didn't just grab any hat, it had to be unique and stylish and something different! He enjoyed wearing a unique type of the Pharrell hat most of the time. Boy George went on to create his own line of fashion called, B-Rude. Boy George was on the top of his game in the 80s with so many hits. "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" He went on to become both a solo artist but the hat stayed with him. His songs were nominated for a Grammy and a Tony Award, but never won. He did win the Ivor Novello Award in 2015.

All of the answers included men in the band, Culture Club. Roy played guitar and keyboards, Mikey played bass and Jon played both drums and percussion.
