Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to the BFG, what did people from Turkey taste like?

Answer: Turkey

Human beings from Turkey, well, tasted like turkey. It was the favourite delicacy of the giant named Bonecruncher. Human beings from Greece tasted greasy to them, and no giant ever visited Greece. People from Jersey tasted like cardigans to them, and citizens of Wales tasted fishy.
2. Every giant loves to drink frobscottle. What is unusual about this drink?

Answer: The bubbles in frobscottle travel downwards and burst at the bottom

The bubbles in frobscottle fizz downward. It tasted sweet and refreshing to Sophie. She described its taste by saying that it had the flavour of vanilla and cream, with the faintest trace of raspberries.
3. Which giant loved to eat people from the city and had a very fast arm?

Answer: Gizzardgulper

While explaining to Sophie how the various giants catch people, the BFG said that the Gizzardgulping giant was a city lover. He usually laid down between the roofs of tall houses in the big cities and snatched the people who looked tasty to him. It was like choosing from a menu.
4. What led all the giants to fight wildly when BFG and Sophie returned from the Dream Country?

Answer: BFG's use of a trogglehumper on Fleshlumpeater.

Trogglehumpers give people frightful nightmares, while phizwizards and ringbellers give them sweet dreams. When BFG used the trogglehumper on Fleshumpeater, in his nightmare he smacked the Meatdripping Giant and kicked Gizzardgulper. They awoke and lashed out on Fleshlumpeater, leading soon to an all-out giant fight.
5. Who is the only human being whom giants fear?

Answer: Jack

When Fleshlumpeater had the nightmare due to the trogglehumper, he kept pleading to Jack not to hurt him. When Sophie asked BFG the reason, he explained that Jack is the only human whom giants fear. They had heard that Jack had a weapon called "the beanstalk" which he used to kill giants. Sophie could not help but feel amused as she remembered the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk".
6. The BFG had separate dreams for boys and girls.

Answer: True

The BFG had separate dreams for boys and girls. He stated emphatically that even if he gave a very nice boy's dream to a girl, they would think it was rubbish and vice-versa. To prove his point, he showed Sophie two ringbellers (very nice dreams). While she found the girl's one amusing, she felt the other one was quite silly.
7. What are dreams made of, according to the BFG?

Answer: Zozimus

Sophie felt sad for the smashed dreams when BFG mixed them to create the special dream for the Queen. BFG assured him that dreams felt nothing as they had no brain and were made of zozimus. He also said that dreams did not require any food, despite being alive.
8. The BFG learned to write by reading the book "Nicholas Nickelby". Who was its author?

Answer: Charles Dickens

The BFG erroneously called Charles Dickens "Dahl's Chickens" when he first showed Sophie the book. In the last chapter, the author good humouredly remarked that BFG had learned to read and write properly; he had read all the books of Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens, whom he no longer called "Dahl's Chickens".
9. Where in London were BFG and Sophie when he thought they were lost?

Answer: Hyde Park

BFG was confused after reaching the Hyde Park. According to him, they should have been in the middle of London, but they were suddenly in the middle of green pastures. Sophie assured him that they were on the correct path, and instructed him on how to enter the Queen's palace.
10. The BFG received gifts from all countries for helping to capture the giants. But from which country did he receive an elephant, the very thing he wished for?

Answer: India

The ruler of India sent BFG a magnificent elephant, on whose back he could ride and eat sweet peaches. He also received a pair of camels from the King of Arabia and a pair of llamas from the Lama of Tibet. Pullovers from Jersey, hats from Panama and a barrelful of sweet and sour pork from the King of Sweden were also included in the gift list.
