1. A is for: The name of the second President of the United States of America.

Answer: John Adams

John Adams was the president right after George Washington ended his term in office. Adams gained most of his recognition for his strong stand during the Stamp Act of 1765 and when, as a lawyer, he represented six soldiers who were involved in the Boston Massacre of 1770. His own Vice President, Thomas Jefferson, defeated him when he ran for a second term as president.
2. B is for: The city where a famous "Tea Party" happened.

Answer: Boston

The Boston Tea Party, which took place on Thursday, December 16, 1773, is said to be one of the major sparks for the American Revolution. A group of American colonists were upset over the taxation by the British government so they threw many crates of tea into the Boston Harbor.
3. C is for: The name of the Italian explorer who is credited with discovering the Americas.

Answer: Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus made this famous voyage to the Americas in 1492. His three ships, the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria sailed for five weeks until land was finally sighted at 2 a.m. on October 12, 1492. Columbus even has his very own holiday in the US which is celebrated on the second Monday in October each year!
4. D is for: The city where many early automobiles were manufactured.

Answer: Detroit

Detroit, which is often called the "Motor City", was home to Henry Ford who was the first car manufacturer in the United States. Henry Ford's "Model-T" car sold for $850 in 1909 and had dropped all the way to $440 by 1915. The price for a car back in 1915 is what some people pay per month for a car nowadays!
5. E is for: The man who invented the phonograph, the kinetoscope, the stock ticker and the long lasting light bulb.

Answer: Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison invented his device for recording and playing sounds, the phonograph, on November 21, 1877. The kinetoscope was one of the earliest inventions that could be used to view early motion pictures. Edison's invention of the stock ticker is what gave him money early in his career to help fund other projects including the long lasting light bulb.
6. F is for: The name of the place where most of the United States' gold reserves are kept.

Answer: Fort Knox

Fort Knox is a United States Bullion Depository that is located near Fort Knox, Kentucky. The amount of gold held at Fort Knox hit a peak during World War II when it held 649.6 million troy ounces or 20,205 metric tons. Fort Knox was portrayed as being involved in a heist for the 1964 James Bond film "Goldfinger".

Answer: Gulf War

The Gulf War was fought between Iraq and a coalition of forces that were primarily led by the United States. The war started when Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait.
8. H is for: The highest military decoration that can be given out in the US.

Answer: Medal of Honor

The very first Medal of Honor was given to Private Jacob Parrott for his actions in the Andrew Raid during the American Civil War. The only female to ever receive the award was Civil War surgeon Mary Edwards Walker.
9. I is for: The name of the conflict in World War II where five U.S. Marines and one U.S. Navy corpsman were historically photographed while raising the U.S. flag atop of Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945.

Answer: Battle of Iwo Jima

This image was taken on the fifth day of what turned out to be a 35 day battle for the Allied forces. At the beginning of the battle the Japanese had approximately 21,000 troops occupying Iwo Jima, but by the end the only 216 Japanese remained to be captured as prisoners while almost all of the others were casualties of the war.

This photograph is arguably one of the most reproduced war photographs of all-time.

Answer: Joe Montana

Joe Montana was drafted in the third round of the 1979 NFL Draft out of the University of Notre Dame. Of his four Super Bowl victories, Joe was the MVP of three of them.
