Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There is a very important thing we must wear when riding in a car. What is this important thing?

Answer: A seatbelt

Seatbelts are very important. If you don't wear a seatbelt and the car crashes, you might get hurt very badly. Never assume that your parents are good drivers, so you won't crash. A bad driver might crash into your car and you will get hurt.
2. How old must you be to get your restricted driver's license in most states of America?

Answer: 16

When you are 15, and you get your learner driver's permit, then you are allowed to drive with a parent or guardian in the passenger seat.
3. I sometimes put my shoulder strap behind my back because it is bothersome to my neck. Is this dangerous?

Answer: Yes

If you have your waist strap on and your shoulder strap behind your back, then if the car crashes, your upper body could force forward and knock your head on the seat very hard.
4. Is it dangerous for a new driver to turn the radio all the way up while driving?

Answer: Yes

For new drivers, and for any drivers in that matter, it is dangerous to put on loud music. It can be very distracting to yourself and possibly others. If someone is honking the horn behind you, saying "I can't stop get out of the way!" you can't hear it with loud music.
5. The gas coming out of the back of a car is called exhaust. What dangerous gas does exhaust have in it?

Answer: Carbon monoxide

Car exhaust only has a little carbon monoxide, but it is still dangerous. It is NOT dangerous to just walk behind a car with exhaust running, though.
6. What should you say if your parents drove you to the bank on a 90 degree day, and told you "I am going to go into the store. Just stay here in the car, and I will be back in 20 minutes?"

Answer: No, it's way too hot out!

It is too hot out if it is 90 degrees. Parents should never ever leave a young child in the car on a hot day.
7. My dog likes to stick his head out the window. I tried to stick my head out the window, but my mom said "Keep your body in the car!" How come I am not allowed to do that?

Answer: All of these

Dogs have a sort of instinct, where they can't resist sticking their head out the window. We are smarter than dogs, and we know what could happen.
8. True or false: Some older kids (below the age of teenagers) use car seats as well.

Answer: True

When it comes to car seats, age doesn't matter. I believe that most car seats are recommended for people under 40-50 pounds.
9. True or false: In America, very small babies are supposed to have their car seats facing backwards.

Answer: True

Newborn babies are supposed to have their car seat strapped in, buckled, and facing backwards.
10. True or false: Car accidents rarely occur.

Answer: False

No way! Car accidents happen so many times throughout the world, you don't even realize it! Probably about 200 cars crash in the world everyday! That is why you should ALWAYS wear a seatbelt; no matter how old you are.
