Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the first thing Loki said to David and the others?

Answer: "Welcome to Everworld."

David, April, Jalil, and Christopher were incidentally pulled through a vortex created by the evil god Loki. His intent was to capture Senna, the witch, but she managed to escape the vortex. Loki, the Norse god of destruction, was extremely large and intimidating. Upon meeting the kids, he said "Welcome to Everworld" and then demanded to know where Senna had been taken.
2. Which character was related to Senna?

Answer: April

April was the half-sister of Senna. They had the same father, so April's mother was Senna's stepmother. When April and the others were pulled into Everworld, Senna was lost. She was also missing in the real world. April realized that although her parents acted worried and concerned, they were actually relieved.
3. What was the color of blood of the alien Hetwan?

Answer: Yellow

The alien, who resembled a large insect due to its fly-like eyes and cockroach shell, explained that he worshipped the alien god Ka Anor. Loki borrowed power from the alien god to open the portal to capture Senna, but he failed. Fenrir, Loki's large wolf-like son, scooped the Hetwan in its jaw and drew blood, which was yellow.
4. Which of the following was not inside April's backpack?

Answer: A cell phone

The group took inventory of what April had incidentally taken with her into Everworld. They had fifty-seven Advil and four batteries for her CD player. April also had keys, tampons, a notebook, pens and pencils, a small collection of CD's, and a book of poetry. Her items each became useful at some point in the series.
5. How did the kids escape Loki's castle?

Answer: They jumped off the side of the castle

Legend stated that no one had ever escaped Loki's large castle. David fought off attacking trolls and men as April, Jalil, and Christopher jumped out of the tall castle. When David fell out, he realized that he was falling much slower than he should be. The jump should have killed the kids; they survived because of an unseen magic.
6. What was waiting for the kids once they escaped the castle?

Answer: A boat with clothes

Soon after landing in the freezing cold water that surrounded Loki's castle, David and the others found an abandoned boat. They realized that without the boat, they would have frozen to death. They found Viking clothing that was lined with fur. They knew that it was more than luck for them to survive the fall from the castle.

It was also no coincidence that they found a boat that contained clothing that fit all of them.
7. What did David and the others pose as to stay with the Vikings?

Answer: Minstrels

David urged April to sing something that had to do with killing, to entertain the Vikings. April finally decided on singing "Killing Me Softly," which brought tears to every single Viking who heard her. After some time, Jalil, David, and Christopher joined her.
8. Time passed at the same rate in Everworld as it did the real world.

Answer: False

When the kids fell asleep in Everworld they temporarily returned to their real-world selves. Two Davids lived simultaneously. However, the time difference was impossible to predict. When David fell asleep on the Viking longboat, his life in the real world was changing at unpredictable rates.
9. What "secret weapon" did the Vikings have against the Aztecs?

Answer: Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor

Loki had abducted Odin, as well as Thor, which brought great devastation to the Vikings. The god Loki agreed to return Odin if the Vikings brought him the head of Huitzilopoctli, god of the Aztecs. Olaf Ironfoot, a Viking king, wielded Mjolnir, the incredibly powerful hammer of Thor, in battle and inspired his men.
10. Which mythical creature was not mentioned in the story?

Answer: Mermaid

Everworld was created by the gods that once ruled Earth. The gods created a new world and brought over many different creatures, including humans. Thorolf, the Viking who housed the kids, told them that the ship they traveled in had a figurehead created by dwarves, which, he explained, were more common in the south. Loki employed slow, dim-witted trolls that turned to stone when stabbed. Finally, a unicorn made its presence known at Thorolf's farm in the morning.
