After losing the battle with the Aztecs, the Vikings were sent to be sacrificed to Huitzilopoctli. According to the Aztecs, it was an honor to have one's heart eaten by the incredibly tall god. So the Vikings were given delicious food, alcohol, and even women to make their hearts happy... before they lost them.

The battle was fought in the city of New Tenochtitlan. Its inhabitants were underfed and worshipped Huitzilopoctli- who fed on their hearts. The people ate the rest of the body parts that were left behind. New Tenochtitlan housed Huitzilopoctli and his vast temple. Christopher was petrified of going back because of the trauma he faced there.

But David and the others agreed to go back to look for Senna.

After taking a bath in preparation for the sacrifice, Christopher dozed off without realizing it. He woke up playing a game of basketball in gym in the real world. He faked an injury and found April in the library. They were both worried because after the Vikings lost, the boys hadn't found her.

Dozens of Vikings died before Christopher, David, and Jalil reached the top of the temple. A line of women wearing robes watched the Vikings lose their lives. Christopher's hopes rose when he saw that one of the robed women had red hair and green eyes- it was April, and she had a collection of Viking weapons to fight the Aztecs with.

The kids and the Vikings fought back and saved themselves.

The kids met a man rifling through Huitzilopoctli's tomb. He wore blue robes and had a beard and moustache. He didn't seem to mind that the dangerous, giant god Huitzilopoctli was sleeping as he searched through the tomb. Just when he left the kids, he revealed that he was the magical wizard Merlin.

Christopher and the others had heard others mention the Coo-Hatch aliens before, but they had never met them. They had blue and red eyes and their bodies were shaped like a long "C." They specialized in creating incredibly sharp steel- steel much more powerful than anything on Earth. Jalil handed over his Swiss Army knife and his regular blade was replaced with Coo-Hatch steel.

The Coo-Hatch didn't seem interested in the bottle of Advil or any of their keys. The metal the kids presented seemed poor and weak to the aliens. However, once April presented her Chemistry book, and the steel-making process it contained, the aliens decided to trade some of their precious steel. Jalil was worried about giving them the book, but the group decided it was the best choice.

Christopher was the unlucky one to examine a source of light the kids found in the woods. April, Jalil, and David surrounded him, hiding in the woods for backup. He walked through the dark forest and found Senna by a small fire. Christopher told his friends it was safe.

When April emerged from her hiding spot, she slapped her half-sister across the face. She knew that Senna was the one to blame for their being in Everworld.

After finding Senna and sharing the corn cake she provided, a vast flying dragon appeared in the night sky. Senna immediately hid behind Christopher and David. They willingly protected her because she had touched their faces and had put them both under a spell. The book ended with the dragon about to attack.
