"Welcome to Everworld" Trivia Quiz

I'm a huge fan of Katherine A. Applegate's book series Everworld - which is probably not so well known as her other series "Animorphs". So let's see whether you read the books carefully enough to answer these questions...

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does the whole story start?

Answer: Taco Bell

David got beaten up there by some friends of Christopher's for having "stolen" his girlfriend Senna.
2. Who was the first one to say "Welcome to Everworld"?

Answer: Loki

It was one of the most defining sentences ever spoken in the book series and became a real trend after the poor guys figured out what was going on. Whenever they met talking pigs, half-dead beauties or gods the size of Rhode Island it goes "Welcome to Everworld"
3. Who does Christopher fall in love with, eventually?

Answer: Etain

The Irish half-elvish girl who finds them on the coast of Ireland after they could flee Neptune. I'd say it was the first time for Christopher to really fall in love.
4. What does Jalil tell Christopher his name means (Jalil's name)?

Answer: Godlike

In book #8 Jalil shows Christopher Miyuki, the girl he likes and tells him that her name means "deep snow" and then they start the whole name discussion. Christopher means "person with Christ in his heart"
5. Loki is the Norse God of _______.

Answer: destruction

Jalil enlightens us with this information when they first hear a troll mention the name Loki and David asks: "Who's Lopi?"
6. April never saved Christopher's life.

Answer: False

When they were in Ka Anor's realm, she did save him from falling down into the crater in which Ka Anor's city was.
7. Complete the quote: "Then you know what I think of your story of being minstrels. It's a steaming great pile of ________." The missing word is "manure".

Answer: True

Said by a dwarf who guards fairy land. Funny how one can be wrong about dwarf and fairy cliches...
8. Senna means "gateway".

Answer: No

Senna doesn't mean "gateway", Senda does. But since Senna and April's father didn't get Senna's name right when her mother brought her to him, she'd been called Senna ever since.
9. Loki's three children in order or appearance.

Answer: Fenrir, Midgard Serpent, Hel

Fenrir was the wolf that almost ate Senna, then we met the Midgard Serpent on the way out of Loki's castle and Hel showed up in book # 4 when she tried to kill everybody (big surprise...)
10. Who said this: "You know a guy is funny when a week later you can still feel the little knives he stuck in you."

Answer: David

In book # 1 said by David when he thinks about Christopher and the way he mocked David in class about a poem he wrote.
11. What are the teenagers' last names in this order: David, Christopher, April, Jalil, Senna.

Answer: Levin, Hitchcock, O'Brien, Sherman, Wales

Levin is a Jewish name - cleverly chosen by the author. O'Brien is Irish - fits April's red hair.
12. In which book does April try to keep herself from staring at David's chest?

Answer: Enter the Enchanted

In Galahad's castle, April went to see David and he didn't wear much when she found him. So she had slight difficulties keeping her eyes off him... bad girl! ;)
13. What did the wild pig in the beginning of book four want from David and co.?

Answer: their apples

That is one of my favourite scenes. First, they plan how to catch and slaughter the pig because they are so hungry and then everything suddenly turns around and they have to give the pig their last apples.
14. What creature do we see on the cover of "Brave the Betrayal"?

Answer: A Coo Hatch

One of the friendly aliens made it onto this week's cover. Who's gonna be next week's star?
15. What do the friends call the little knife the Coo Hatch renewed for them?

Answer: Excalibur

As we know, Coo Hatch steel cuts through everything. And it cost them a whole chemistry book to get that little knife forged.
The other sword names are actually taken from other great books. Lifereaper is a sword in Tad William's Otherland, Aeshaettr (I hope I spelled it right) is from "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman and Andúril (meaning flame of the West) is Aragorn's sword in Lord of the Rings.
