Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We all know about Albus Dumbledore eating an ear wax flavored bean, but what color was it?

Answer: golden brown

In "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (or "Philosopher's Stone") Harry ended up in the hospital wing following a confrontation with You-Know-Who. Among his get well gifts was a bag of "Every Flavour Beans". Looking them over, Dumbledore tried a golden brown one that he thought would be toffee flavored. Alas, no.
2. As we can learn on the "Pottermore" web site, Bertie Bott was honored for inventing "Every Flavour Beans"; how so?

Answer: featured on a Chocolate Frog trading card

Chocolate Frogs come with trading cards (also known as Famous Wizard and Witches Cards). They are very collectible and anyone who has his or her picture put on one should be very flattered. Bertie, being so honored, shares the stage with Merlin, Albus Dumbledore and Ptolemy. Well, yes, Herpo the Foul is included, too.

Bertie's inclusion on the Wizard Cards can also be found in the video games "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets".
3. Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop in Hogsmeade would likely serve toast along with cookies and biscuits. Which "ordinary" flavor of Bertie's beans might Ron Weasley favor as a good compliment to a toast flavored bean?

Answer: marmalade

Marmalade is a fruit preserve made from the juice and peel of oranges. Ron considered Bertie's sweet flavored beans to be the ordinary or normal ones, as he told Harry in "Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone" (or "Philosopher's Stone").
4. Do I have your mouth watering for some of "Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans" yet? You can get them at Honeydukes Sweets Shop, and where else?

Answer: Hogwarts Express Sweets Trolley

The trolley on the Hogwarts Express is a good place to get them, just watch out that some kid with a pocket full of Galleons doesn't buy them all before you get a chance. And if you find yourself in the wizarding town of Hogsmeade, just walk right in to Honeydukes.
5. In his youth, Albus Dumbledore was a fan of Bertie's beans until he accidentally tried which flavor?

Answer: vomit

Unknowingly choosing a vomit-flavored bean put Dumbledore off of Bott's treats for many years.
6. Which of Bertie Bott's beans had an earthy flavor that was enough to make Ron Weasley exclaim "Bleaaargh"?

Answer: sprouts

While sharing a pack of "Every Flavour Beans" with Harry on the train to Hogwarts in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (or "Philosopher's Stone"), Ron chomped on a sprouts-flavored one, much to his dislike.
7. At Honeydukes Sweets Shop how do they display Bertie's beans?

Answer: a big barrel

As well as selling "Fizzing Whizzbees" and "Drooble's Best Blowing Gum", at Honeydukes they have a large barrel of "Every Flavour Beans" from which they will scoop up as many as you want.
8. Which of these was a flavor of "Every Flavour Beans" that Ron Weasley warned Harry Potter against?

Answer: tripe

Trying to give Harry some quick lessons about the wizarding world during their trip to Hogwarts for their first year, Ron gave his thought on candies, including Bertie's beans; he didn't like the ones that tasted like vegetables or came from living things, specifically mentioning tripe.
9. What slogan did Bertie Bott come up with to promote "Every Flavour Beans"?

Answer: A risk with every mouthful!

It is said that while Bertie was working on some new confection he accidentally dropped a pair of dirty socks in the mix and thus was born the first of some of the odd flavors found in his beans. This gave him the idea for the slogan "A risk with every mouthful!" which was prominently displayed on the blackboard in the stadium before the start of the Quidditch World Cup in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire".
10. Enjoying Bertie's beans on his first train ride to Hogwarts, Harry liked them all until he tried one which turned out to be pepper-flavored. What color was it?

Answer: gray

Luckily for Harry, he had only nibbled the end of that gray bean before finding out what flavor it was.
