Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" features the now-adult characters from the Harry Potter series of books and movies, as well as their children. Which character married Harry Potter?

Answer: Ginny Weasley

Ginevra Molly "Ginny" Weasley is the youngest Weasley child and the only girl.

A year younger than Harry, she is seen at the beginning and end of the first book, and then plays a larger part in the second, when she is responsible for opening the Chamber of Secrets.

Ginny is an excellent Quidditch player. She joins the Gryffindor team, playing Chaser or Seeker (when Harry is unavailable). After graduation, she played for the Holyhead Harpies before retiring to write about Quidditch for the "Daily Prophet".
2. Harry isn't the only person that is married in "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". Who married Ron Weasley?

Answer: Hermione Granger

When Hermione attended the Triwizard Tournament Yule Ball with Viktor Krum, Ron got jealous. Over time, that jealousy became a spark that brought Ron and Hermione together as more than friends.

In the alternate realities created in the play, Ron and Hermione are not together, but there is a connection between the two, and a regret that they did not act upon it.

In one of those realities, Ron is married to Padma Patil, Parvati's twin sister.
3. As an adult, Hermione Granger has an important job. Other people with this job included Cornelius Fudge, Rufus Scrimgeour, and Kingsley Shacklebolt. What is this job?

Answer: Minister for Magic

The Minister for Magic is the head of the Ministry of Magic, the wizard government. The Ministry is initially portrayed as inept and bureaucratic, before becoming corrupt and under the control of Voldemort. After Voldemort's death, Kingsley Shacklebolt becomes Minister, and reforms the Ministry.

The Minister for Magic is responsible for interacting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, informing them that magic exists and working with them when necessary.

While Hermione may be Minister for Magic, her husband Ron works at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, the joke shop his brothers started.

In one of the alternate timelines created during the story, Hermione is the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
4. On his first Hogwarts Express train ride, Albus Potter befriends Scorpius, the son of one of Harry's rivals from Slytherin House. Who is Scorpius' father?

Answer: Draco Malfoy

Scorpius Malfoy is the son of Draco and Astoria Malfoy. Astoria is in poor health, and dies the summer before Scorpius' third year at Hogwarts.

Astoria suffered from a "blood malediction", the result of a curse placed on one of her ancestors. The pregnancy and birth of Scorpius weakened her, and Draco hid his family in seclusion so she could recover her strength. This seclusion gave rise to the rumors that Scorpius was the child of Voldemort, and not Draco.
5. In "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", a Time-Turner is used repeatedly to go back and interfere with this character's performance in the Triwizard Tournament, in the hope that he won't be murdered by Peter Pettigrew under Voldemort orders. Who are they going back in time to save?

Answer: Cedric Diggory

Cedric's father Amos has heard that the Ministry has a Time-Turner and wants to use it to save his son. Harry Potter refuses to admit that the Time-Turner exists.

Albus overhears the conversation, along with Delphini Diggory, Amos' niece. Albus decides to save Cedric, and impress the girl, by stealing the Time-Turner. Scorpius goes along on the adventure to support his friend.
6. In their first attempt to change the outcome of the Triwizard Tournament, Albus and Scorpius disguise themselves by wearing the robes of the wizarding school championed by Viktor Krum. Which school was it?

Answer: Durmstrang Institute for Magical Learning

Durmstrang and Beauxbatons are the other European schools in the Triwizard Tournament. Ilvermorny is in North America and Mahoutokoro is in Japan.

This first attempt to change history is not very successful. Albus and Scorpius discover that their Time-Turner may be able to travel years into the past, but they can only remain there for about 5 minutes. And while they are able to stop Cedric from succeeding in the first task, his fate is unchanged. Unfortunately, Hermione witnessed their sabotage and suspects Viktor Krum and Durmstrang of cheating, which has drastic consequences.
7. There can be unforeseen consequences to meddling with time. When events change and Neville Longbottom is killed before he can destroy one of Voldemort's horcruxes, the Dark Lord wins the Battle of Hogwarts and takes over the wizarding world. What horcrux was Longbottom supposed to destroy?

Answer: Nagini the Snake

The prophesy of "the Chosen One" could have referred to either Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom, and it could be argued that while Voldemort focused his attention on Harry, Neville played a very important part in the Dark Lord's eventual defeat.

Neville grows in confidence, skill, and bravery during the course of the original Harry Potter series, and plays a role in most of the major battles. He is an average student with an exceptional talent for Herbology, which helps Harry in the second task at the Triwizard Tournament. He grows up to become the professor of Herbology at Hogwarts.
8. In the alternate timeline where Lord Voldemort wins and takes over the world, which short, pink, toad-like woman is the Headmistress of Hogwarts?

Answer: Dolores Umbridge

Dolores Umbridge was Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic and installed as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". She eventually becomes the "High Inquisitor" of Hogwarts, and eventually Headmistress of Hogwarts, as a result of the Ministry of Magic's suspicions that Dumbledore is rebelling against the Ministry.

While she favors pink and cute things, she uses cruel and inhumane punishments against the students, and is an ineffective teacher.
9. With Voldemort and his minions in control, Scorpius realizes that there should be one person he can trust: the potions teacher and head of Slytherin House who secretly worked for Dumbledore and in this timeline is still alive. Who is he?

Answer: Severus Snape

Severus Snape was a Death Eater secretly working for the Order of the Phoenix. He loved Harry's mother Lily. That love is both the source of his loyalty to Dumbledore and his resentment towards Harry.

Snape is one of the few Death Eaters that is capable of casting the Patronus Charm, Expecto Patronum. His patronus is the same as Lily Potter's: a doe.

Harry Potter described Snape as "probably the bravest man I ever knew", and named his second son, Albus Severus Potter, after the man. In "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", Snape wants Scorpius to tell Albus Severus that he is proud that Albus carries his name.
10. Albus and Scorpius eventually find themselves trapped in 1981, near where Harry's parents were killed by Voldemort. What was the name of this magical village?

Answer: Godric's Hollow

The Potters were not the only famous residents of Godric's Hollow. Bathilda Bagshot, the famous author of "A History of Magic", also lived there. Because she was never one to lock her doors, the boys are able to raid her house for the necessary magical ingredients to send a message to their parents.

Godric's Hollow is home to a war memorial that changes to a statue of James, Lily, and Harry Potter when wizards come close and no muggles (non-magical people) are around.
