When Rusty walks unknowingly into the woods and gets attacked by Graypaw, and later meets him for the first time, Erin Hunter states, "The creature hit him like an explosion and Rusty was thrown sideways into a clump of nettles." "As fast as a dog" is not a real saying, and "as hard as a rock" is not used in the scene.

This scene in the book states that Rusty decided he would rather turn and fight than let himself be jumped on again. Bluestar and Lionheart were not introduced yet, so they did not know Rusty and Rusty did not know them.

In the prologue, Spottedleaf tells Bluestar a shooting star was a message from StarClan. They had told her that fire alone will save the Clan. Bluestar is startled by this. Bluestar protests by saying that fire is feared by every cat. She argues because of disbelief and shock. Fire is destructive, so why would it save the Clan?
