Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This man was created from dust! Who named all the animals God created in the garden of Eden?

Answer: Adam

God created Adam from the dust of the earth on the sixth day of creation. God put him in charge of naming all the animals that had been created. Later God noticed Adam was lonely because all the animals had mates of their kind. He put Adam to sleep and formed a woman out of one of his ribs. Adam called her "Eve" because she became the mother of all mankind.

His story can be found in the book of Genesis, chapters 1-3.
2. This man pleased God when everyone else was wicked. Who built a large boat that saved his family from a great flood?

Answer: Noah

When Noah lived, the world was so wicked it made God sorry that he had ever made it. However Noah pleased God. God told Noah he would destroy the world with water and offered Noah a plan to escape. He told Noah to build an ark and bring two of every living creature aboard. People laughed at Noah but when the waters came they realized God was serious. Everyone that was not on the ark drowned. Noah obeyed God and it saved his whole family.

When he got off the ark, Noah built an altar and thanked God. God was so pleased he made a rainbow and told Noah he would never destroy the earth with water again.

His story can be found in Genesis 6.
3. This man convinced his brother to give up his birthright for a little bit of food. However, later God blessed him. Who became known as "Israel" because he wrestled with an angel?

Answer: Jacob

Jacob was not very honest when he was younger. He tricked his brother to give up his birthright for a bit of food. Then later he disguised himself and tricked his father into giving him all that he had by blessing him. His brother was so angry he told everyone he would kill Jacob for what he had done.

However God was with Jacob. One night Jacob wrestled with an angel and begged God to bless him. God changed his name to "Israel" which means "Prince". Jacob became one of the major fathers of the nation of Israel.

His stories can be found in Genesis 25-37, 42, and 45-49.
4. This man wrote many songs! Who started out as a shepherd boy and later God chose him to be a great king in Israel?

Answer: David

When David was a young man he was a shepherd for his father. He wrote many songs of praise to God while he watched the sheep. One day when David went to visit his brothers in the army, he saw the giant Goliath taunting God's people. No one was brave enough to fight him, so David did.

He took a sling and five stones and killed Goliath in the name of the Lord. He became a great champion! Later God chose him to be king over all Israel. David wrote the majority of the book of Psalms and his stories can be found in the books of Kings and Chronicles.
5. This man was known as the wisest king that ever lived. Who told two women to divide a child in half to determine who the real mother was?

Answer: Solomon

God asked Solomon what he wanted most when he became king. Solomon asked God to give him wisdom so he could lead God's people. God was so pleased he told Solomon he would give him wisdom, but also gold, fame, riches, and many things he did not ask for. One day Solomon showed his wisdom when two women came to him with a child. Both said they were the real mom. Solomon asked for a sword to divide the child in half.

The real mom said "No! Let the other lady have it!" Solomon gave her the child because he knew the real mom would rather have her child given to another than to have it killed. Solomon did many more wise things and you can find his story in the books of Kings and Chronicles in the Bible.

He also wrote the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon.
6. This man was fed by ravens during a time when there was no rain. Who called fire from of heaven during a contest between the prophets of Baal and God?

Answer: Elijah

During a time when the king and queen were very wicked in Israel, Elijah came and told them there would be no rain until he prayed. For three years there was no rain and people, animals, and crops died. God took care of Elijah though and ravens fed him by a small river of water. Finally Elijah went to the king and set up a contest.

The priests of Baal and Elijah would both build altars to their gods. The God who answered by fire would be the true God of Israel. The king agreed. The prophets of Baal had no success, but when Elijah prayed fire fell on his sacrifice. Israel turned back to God and God let it rain again.

His story is found in 1 Kings 17:7-24 and 1 Kings 18:16-46.
7. This man was known as a weeping prophet. Who was very sad because God's people were destroyed and carried away as prisoners?

Answer: Jeremiah

Jeremiah was a prophet who had to tell God's people about serious things that would happen if they didn't change their ways. God's people were very wicked and did not listen. Jeremiah wrote a book called Lamentations that shared his tears when God allowed his people to be taken captive or destroyed. You can find out more about Jeremiah in the book of Jeremiah in the Bible, as well as the books of 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles.
8. This man was a tax collector when Jesus came and told him "Follow me". Who left his money tables and became a disciple of Jesus?

Answer: Matthew

Tax collectors were not liked by many people during the time Jesus lived. They often cheated people and took advantage of them. However Jesus saw Matthew and told him "Follow me". Matthew left everything he had and became a disciple of Jesus. He changed his life completely around! He wrote the first book of the New Testament, the gospel of Matthew, which tells the stories of Jesus' birth, miracles, and his crucifixion.
9. This man was struck blind while he was traveling to Damascus. God healed his eyesight and later he became a great missionary. Who wrote over two thirds of the New Testament, sharing his journeys and wisdom with churches?

Answer: Paul

Before he was Paul, his name was Saul. He hated people that talked about Jesus so much he tried to kill them. He was headed to Damascus to do just that, when God struck him blind. God told a man named Ananias to pray for Saul and God healed him. Saul changed his name to Paul and later became an apostle.

He traveled to many parts of the world sharing the Gospel. He wrote many letters encouraging churches and instructing them how to live the way God wants. His story can be found in the book of Acts.
10. This man was a disciple of Jesus and an apostle. He was banished to an island because of his faith. Who wrote the book of Revelation, which tells how God will return to earth?

Answer: John

John was one of the closest disciples of Jesus. He was even at the cross when Jesus died. When the church was started, John was one of the apostles that spread the Gospel. He was banished to an island for telling others about Jesus. On the island God appeared to him and told him to write down the things that he saw.

He showed John events that will happen in the final days of earth and how God would come back for his people. God told him the people who were faithful to God would live with him for eternity in heaven.
