My husband left the land of Ur and traveled to the place where God said He would lead him. We experienced many hard things including kings and armies we were afraid would take our lives. God promised He would make us the parents of many nations and give us as many children as the number of stars in the sky.

However Abraham and I grew too old to have children. I was ninety years old when God told me I would be pregnant. I laughed and thought how could this be possible? However God kept his promise and the following year I had a son. God told us to name him Isaac, which means "laughter", because we laughed so hard.

A man had been sent to my country by his master to find a bride for his master's son. He was very nervous because he wanted to find someone special for his master's son. So the servant prayed for God to let him know who the woman was by making her give water to him and his camels. I came along and offered to water the camels and gave the servant drink, just as he had prayed. Those camels can sure be really thirsty, I can tell you! He asked me if I would go back with him to be a bride. I said goodbye to my family and married Isaac, Abraham's son! We had two boys, twins, Jacob and Esau.

Jacob was running for his life, because he tricked his brother Esau, when he came to live with us. He fell in love with me and my father told him if he worked for seven years, he could marry me. However on the night of the wedding, my father tricked Jacob. Back then the veil covered up who the bride was and Jacob didn't realize it was my older sister until he got home! Jacob was mad! However my father told him I was the youngest, and if he worked another seven years, he could marry me too. Jacob agreed and worked even harder.

He was so in love with me, it seemed just like a few days. Meanwhile my sister was having children, but I could not have a baby. Jacob remembered his father had prayed for his mom, and she had children. So he prayed for me and God gave us Joseph, which means "fruitful". Joseph would later grow up and save our entire family from a terrible famine.

When my baby brother was little, my mother and I tried to save his life by putting him in a basket on the Nile river. Pharaoh had made a law that all the Hebrew baby boys would be killed if they were found. However when a princess saw my brother, she loved him instantly. I told her about my mother who could be the boy's nurse!

Moses grew up and eventually God told him to tell Pharaoh that God's people needed to go free! Terrible things happened because God wanted to show Pharaoh He meant business. Frogs, bloody water, locusts, and death of the firstborn were just a few of the bad things. When Pharaoh's son died he told Moses to get out! However he changed his mind and chased us to the Red Sea. We were trapped! God told Moses to lift his rod and parted the waters. The Israelites passed through safely, but the Egyptians drowned.

I was so excited when I saw God destroy the Egyptians, I instantly started singing a song about God's great victory. All the ladies danced with me and it was a time of celebration. God's people had a lot to learn though. My brothers and I had to teach them right from wrong with the laws God gave us.

I had heard many stories about the Israelites and the victories God had given to their enemies. When I saw them arrive at Jericho my heart was afraid, but everyone else laughed. "They will never be able to conquer these walls!", they said. However God had a plan.

He sent two spies to Jericho. When they were in danger I hid them in my home. In return I begged them to save my family when God gave them the city. They agreed and told me to hang my red rope out the window. God told the Israelites to march several days around the city. My people made fun of them and laughed.

Then on the last day when they blew the trumpets and shouted, we heard a rumbling noise. The walls crashed! The two spies saw my rope and rescued my family. Everyone else was killed. I became a part of the Israelites and eventually became an ancestor of Jesus.

It's hard to imagine three funerals and a wedding happening all within a short time, but it did in my family. My sister, mother-in-law, and I all became widows within a few years. I loved Naomi, my mother-in-law, who told me the great things about her God. One day she decided to move back to Jerusalem where God's people were.

She tried to convince my sister and me to stay, but I loved her and had nothing to go back to. When my sister left, I begged Naomi to let me stay with her. She blessed me. We moved back to Jerusalem and I went to work in the fields. We found out the owner of the field was a close relative, Boaz.

He loved me and eventually we were married! We became the great grandparents of King David.

I was a prophetess and judge. My job was to lead God's people and tell them what God wanted. However because they had disobeyed God's commandments, God let them be mistreated by their enemies. Other nations would come and rob their food and crops. Sometimes they would even kidnap people. One day I felt it was time to do something. I told Barak that God wanted him to lead God's people into battle against the Syrians. Barak agreed, but told me he wouldn't go without me. I was sad, because he couldn't trust God on his own. So God told me the victory would be won by a woman.

There were chariots, horses, clanging of swords, like you have never imagined! Barak fought well and defeated the enemy's army. However the commander ran away to the tent of a woman named Jael.

She took a tent peg and killed him while he slept. I rejoiced that God had given our people victory and peace again! I wrote a song and danced!

I made a mistake with a king and we tried to cover it up. My husband had been one of the king's best soldiers and was fighting in a battle. While I was alone, the king fell in love with me. He ordered my husband to be put at the front of the battle, so he would be killed.

The king married me afterwards and thought his sin was kept secret. However God knew and saw everything. Our first child died, but the king repented before God. God gave us Solomon afterwards. His stepbrothers were very evil and tried to take the throne for themselves when the king was old.

However, the prophet and I went to the king and begged him for mercy. We were afraid his other sons would try to kill us. The king remembered how much he loved me and told us that we would be safe.

The king blessed my son Solomon and knew that he was God's chosen. Solomon became the wisest king in the world and built a great temple.

There is not a lot of history about me in the Bible, but I was a great leader among my own people. I heard the stories of Solomon and was amazed. In one story he had decided the real mother of a baby, when two women came to him and he threated to divide the baby in half.

The real mother tried to save her baby while the other woman did not. Solomon gave the baby to the real mother and the baby was saved. I gathered gold and gifts and decided to travel to Solomon to meet him for myself. When I got to Jerusalem I saw the great temple he had built for God. I was so amazed at all God had done for Solomon and his people, I praised Him. I gave him the gifts and the gold. God's people were greatly blessed.

When I was a little girl, both my parents were tragically lost. I was raised by my cousin Mordecai, who treated me as his own daughter. One day, the queen decided to disobey the king's command and was banished from the kingdom. The king became very sad and there was a hunt for a new bride.

They took me away because I was very beautiful. When the king saw me, he loved me and we were married. I did not understand why God would put me in such a position of power until the day when one of my king's advisers decided to kill all my people for not bowing to him. I went before the king without permission, and if the king had not held out his golden rod, I would've been killed. I invited him to some parties with Haman, the evil man. On the last night together I told the king, Haman was going to kill my people an I.

The king was outraged! He ordered Haman to be killed and saved my people's lives. Mordecai became the king's new adviser and my people praised God for saving them.
