The hippopotamus or hippo is a large plant eating animal that is considered to be the largest land animal other than the elephant and rhinoceros. Hippos are semi-aquatic, which means they love to be in the water and are only found in areas where rivers or lakes are present. They live in family groups which consist of mothers and their babies and one adult male.

The cheetah is by far the fastest land animal on the planet. It can reach speeds of 75 mph (120km/h) in short spurts. It can climb trees easily and often stores the food it catches high in the branches so that other large animals, such as hyenas and lions, are unable to steal it from them. The beautiful cheetah is an endangered animal as it does not adapt well to change.

Crocodiles are very large reptiles that make their homes in the rivers and lakes in many parts of Africa. They feed on the large mammals that come to the water to drink and have some of the strongest jaws of any animal on earth. Crocodiles are among the oldest animals on the planet and are closely related to dinosaurs.

The lion has long been known as the "king of the jungle". Adult males sport a beautiful long mane of hair around their neck and head. Lions live in groups of related females and their babies with one adult male who provides protection for the pack. In the world of lions while the male provides protection it is the females who do the hunting.

I need to be looking for an elephant. These magnificent animals usually live in small herds of related females and their babies. Elephants are among the smartest of animals and are a symbol of wisdom in some cultures. Some elephants have been trained to work for the local peoples.

The ostrich is the largest bird in the world as well as laying the largest eggs in the world. Ostrich live in nomadic groups and are plant eaters. Adult ostrich can be as tall as nine ft (2.75 meters). Their long legs are made for running and they are able to run over 43 mph (70 kilometres) for thirty minutes at a time.

There are quite a few varieties of gazelle, but all are speedy deer-like animals. Most have beautiful horns and live in large migratory herds. Gazelles are some of the favorite prey of animals such as lions, leopards and cheetahs.

Answer: Bear

While Africa is home to a huge variety of animals there are no bears of any kind. There are no bears in the continent of Australia or Antarctica either. But don't worry there are plenty of other animals to photograph.
