Based on a French fairy tale, "Sleeping Beauty" was released in 1959. Because of a musicians' strike in the US, the music for the movie was actually recorded in Germany. This movie is the last fairy-tale based movie that Walt Disney ever worked on.

The idea for a musical film adaptation of "Aladdin" was created by famed lyricist Howard Ashman. The lyrics were written by Ashman, Alan Menken, and Tim Rice. The song "A Whole New World" won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
