The monsters in the books come alive from B monster movies. All of the monsters in the books appear when the original film is screened. "The Return of Mega Mantis" was watched nine times and so created nine monsters.

Stella accidentally released the beast from the original film reel because she thought it was already released. They were watching the film to see if they could find out how to defeat the beast. There is no evil scientist in any of the books.

Slimo ate Mr. Bunsen when the slime attacked the school. The slime first ate Mr. Bunsen and then ate everyone else in Mr. Bunsen's lab.

Damon is very much afraid of bugs. In the end Damon ends up destroying the bugs as they become not so mega. There is no Joe in the books.
