Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start with what exactly happened in Neopia in 2006: which of the following plots did NOT occur in 2006?

Answer: Lost Desert

The Lost Desert plot was that long and annoying plot that happened in Lost Desert for a good part of 2005. Cyodrake Gaze was the small mini-plot in 2006. Altador Cup was the awesome world cup we had, which was similar to football (soccer) and was called Youyouball.

The year ended with the Tale of Woe plot which was based on Sophie's world within the Haunted Woods. People were also expecting a Lutari Island plot but that never happened.
2. Which one of the following places was NOT introduced in 2006?

Answer: Brightvale

In addition to Lutari Island, Neovia and Shenkuu, we were also introduced to Altador. Brightvale was always there as a link from Meridell but only after the new map layout, were we able to click on it from the explore page directly. Lutari Island was made available to enter but you had to be a Neopets mobile user to be able to access the features of the island. Neovia was introduced in the Tale of Woe plot and is available by clicking on the gypsy camp in Haunted Woods.

Shenkuu was introduced at the end of the Cyodrake Gaze mini-plot.

It is presently clickable on the explore map above Altador. The biggest and best entry in the explore map is Altador which brought a lot of interesting weapons and Petpet shops.
3. Who was the winner of the Altador Cup?

Answer: Haunted Woods

The Altador Cup was definitely a novel and interesting event in Neopets. The four options were all semi-finalists but in the finals between Haunted Woods and Darigan Citadel, Haunted Woods was crowned the winner. The standings were as follows: Mystery Island (what I was rooting for), Krawk Island, Brightvale, Darigan Citadel, Haunted Woods (obviously), Lost Desert, Meridell and Roo Island (surprise winner) were all winners in round one.

In the rounds that followed all the teams with the highest number of players (surprisingly not Darigan Citadel) kept losing due to the number of Neopets users who just joined without actually playing. Finally, two major teams - Krawk Island and Darigan Citadel entered the semi-finals along with two underdogs - Haunted Woods and Roo Island.

The underdog - Haunted Woods - in the end won the cup (a complete shock to me!).
4. As the Altador Cup was going on there was also a staff tournament going on. This was where The Neopets Team (TNT) members played the Altador Cup and we were supposed to guess who would win the tournament. Which one of the following people was not in the top three?

Answer: El Picklesaur

Guessing any of those three would have earned you the awesome and rare avatar that was released after the prizes were handed out. I learned that Snarkie always wins, something I should keep in mind since I did not get the avatar. As a side note, the teams they were playing for were TPOSG - Roo Island, Snarkie - Virtupets and DJ Skellington - Haunted Woods.
5. So I am guessing that you've completed the Altador plot and this will not be a spoiler for you. Who was the culprit in the end of the plot?

Answer: The Darkest Faerie

It was the darkest faerie, no surprises there. Sorry, if I ruined the end of the plot for those people who haven't completed it yet, but I'm sure you knew that was the answer all along! Jerdana was towards the end being suspected as the culprit by Finneus (Altadorian Archives caretaker) as for the other two, it just seems like they are capable of doing what the darkest faerie did.
6. Now one of the most fun parts of a plot (other then doing it of course) is the prizes. The Altador plot gave out many prizes both during the plot as well as after the plot was over. Which of the following wasn't given during the plot?

Answer: Finneus Stained Glass Window

On Day 5 (April 1, 2006) of the plot we got the membership badge. On Day 8 (April 8, 2006) of the plot we got the broken astrolabe, which many people repaired and made it a shiny astrolabe. On Day 11 (April 20, 2006) we got the Astronomy club. Finneus Stained Glass Window however was a prize given after the plot was over.

It was given along with the Finneus avatar on the second day of collecting prizes.
7. The Cyodrake Gaze mini-plot was about a ship that travelled around Neopia. When you entered the ship you realized that the navigator was pushed off the ship and you have to solve the mystery and find out who did it. So....who pushed Hoban - the navigator - off the ship?

Answer: Chef Bonju

It was Chef Bonju who pushed Hoban off the ship. The other three were suspects too. Just in case you are wondering, Linae is the pink kougra who now is in charge of the Kou Jong game. Kentari is an orangish yellow shoyru and the weapons specialist in charge of Wonderous Weaponry. Anshu is the brown ruki and doctor in charge of Remarkable Restoratives. Lastly, Chef Bonju is the orange blumaroo and the owner of Culinary Concoctions.
8. The longest step in the Tale of Woe plot was the one in the graveyard. There were many activities we had to do in the graveyard. Which one of the following is NOT an activity we had to do?

Answer: Fill empty graves

The many things we had to do in the graveyard included fetching the caretaker's books, digging graves, fetching ingredients for Sophie to make her bone-testing potion, testing the bones and marking off graves and crossing them in the graveyard lists. Thankfully, we did not have to re-fill those graves; many people on the Neopets boards were joking about that being the next step.

The good part is we earned neopoints and small prizes (ranging from marshmallows to paint brushes) along the way.
9. The Tale of Woe plot combined earlier events by including both battledome opponents as well as logic puzzles. Which of the following was NOT a kind of battledome opponent that we had to fight during the plot?

Answer: Skeletons

Wave one of the opponents were the three stones - Furious stones, Macabre stones and Ominous stones. Wave two were the trees - Savage sycamore, Blathering beech and Black elm. Wave three were the townspeople - Disgruntled townspeople, Bennie the jub and Herman Dorfdrap. Wave four were the shadows - Malevolent shadow, Creeping shadow and Shrieking shadow.

The last wave were the three forms of the mayor.
10. One of the cool parts of Neopets plots is their legacies. Most plots leave behind a world that we can access long after the plot is over. The foreman who was very popular in the Lost Desert plot was seen in another plot in 2006. Which plot did the foreman return in?

Answer: Altador Plot

The foreman returned as the janitor in the Altador plot and was one of the first characters we got introduced to. He was angry all the time but who can blame the poor guy with the millions of Neopians running in and out of the Hall of Heroes trying to crack the puzzle.

Incidentally, he doesn't seem too happy about any particular job having shifted from foreman to chef to janitor in one year.
