Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Shasta doesn't want to call the horse "Breehy-hinny-brinny-hoohy-hah", which is the horse's full name. So what is the nickname that Shasta gives him?

Answer: Bree

"I'll never be able to say that," said Shasta. "Can I call you Bree?"
2. What is the name of the girl who Shasta and Bree meet in the second chapter?

Answer: Aravis

Shasta and Bree met Aravis (and her horse, Hwin) when they got chased by a lion in the second chapter. The lion actually turned out to be Aslan, and there was a reason for bringing the four together.
3. True or false? Aravis is a princess.

Answer: true

Aravis was a Tarkheena (the Calormen word for princess). She was being forced into a marriage that she was against, so she made the rash decision to run away.
4. What did Aravis have to pretend to be while she was with Lasaraleen?

Answer: a slave

Aravis had to pretend to be Lasaraleen's slave. As much as she disliked it, she knew it was the only way to be disguised.
5. Was Shasta really a prince?

Answer: yes

Shasta actually wasn't Shasta at all. His real name was Cor, and he was the elder twin of Prince Corin. The two looked so much alike, that the Narnians mistook Shasta (or Cor) for Corin.
6. Who gets turned into a donkey in the last chapter?

Answer: Rabadash

Rabadash was the evil Calormen prince who wanted to marry Queen Susan. She declined his proposal, causing Rabadash to become infuriated. That's when he and his army attacked Narnia/Archenland at a time of peace. In the end, he was captured and the Narnians didn't have the heart to kill him. So Aslan put a spell on Rabadash, which caused him to turn into a donkey whenever he went more than ten miles outside his city.
7. How many giants fought in the battle at Anvard?

Answer: six

One of the giants was slain during the battle, for he got an arrow through his eye.
8. Why did Aslan scratch and tear Aravis's back?

Answer: It was her punishment for drugging her step-mother's slave.

Remember when Aravis drugged her step-mom's slave girl? Well, this was her punishment for doing that. Each tear on Aravis's back paid for the beatings that the slave received once she was found drugged and asleep.
9. Why was Bree hesitant to go back to Narnia, after they had stayed with the hermit?

Answer: He was ashamed of his cut tail.

Bree was a very proud horse. If you remember from the third chapter, the horses had to disguise themselves as working horse. That meant that Bree had to get his tail chopped off, and it hadn't grown back by the fourteenth chapter. Since Bree was so proud, he didn't want to return to Narnia with his tail looking like that.
10. Did Bree and Hwin get married to each other?

Answer: no

Bree and Hwin each got married, but not to each other.
