Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Sorcerer's Stone", who rescued Harry from Godric's Hollow and delivered him to Privet Drive?

Answer: Rubeus Hagrid

Hagrid retrieved Harry from the house and flew him to Privet Drive on a flying motorcycle he borrowed from Sirius. Dumbledore arrived shortly before he did, and he spotted McGonagall in her cat form. McGonagall had been watching the house all day, having been told it was where Dumbledore would arrive.
2. How old was Harry when he discovered, in "Sorceror's Stone", that he could communicate with snakes?

Answer: 10

Harry discovered he could communicate with snakes when he visited the zoo with the Dursleys for Dudley's birthday and spoke with a boa constrictor about its desire to visit Brazil. He had not yet turned eleven at this time. He was twelve when he spoke to the snake in the Dueling Club, which was also when he learned that his skill had the name "Parseltongue."
3. When Harry visits the Weasleys for the first time in "Chamber of Secrets", what amazes him the most?

Answer: Everybody there seems to like him

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets": "What Harry found most unusual about life at Ron's, however, wasn't the talking mirror or the clanking ghoul: It was the fact that everybody there seemed to like him."

He was so used to feeling like a burden, he was amazed that the Weasleys seemed to genuinely like him and want him there. He got along with everyone, and no one seemed inclined to throw him in a cupboard.
4. In "Prisoner of Azkaban", what was Harry's method of controlling his temper during Aunt Marge's visit?

Answer: Thinking about his Handbook of Do-It-Yourself Broomcare

"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban": "Harry got through the next three days by forcing himself to think about his Handbook of Do-It-Yourself Broomcare whenever Aunt Marge started on him."

The book was a birthday gift from Hermione. Harry needed to control his temper because he had a deal with Vernon that if he behaved, his uncle would sign his permission form to go to Hogsmeade.
5. Who put Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire?

Answer: Barty Crouch Jr.

Using the Polyjuice Potion to disguise himself as Alastor Moody, Barty Crouch Jr. was the one who entered Harry in the tournament. The movie made it appear that Igor Karkaroff was guilty, but the movies aren't to be trusted. He actually fled when his Mark burned, and is presumed dead.
6. In "Order of the Phoenix", what distracts their History of Magic lesson and causes Harry to make an excuse and rush out of the room?

Answer: Hedwig shows up at the window, injured

Hedwig shows up during their History of Magic lesson, and Harry wonders why she didn't arrive with the rest of the owls during the morning mail. He then notices that she is injured, and rushes to Professor Grubbly-Plank for help. Hedwig has been attacked, and Harry's letter has been intercepted.
7. In "Half-Blood Prince", Dumbledore reveals Sirius' will to Harry. In order to test whether Kreacher is part of Harry's inheritance, Dumbledore asks Harry to give him a command. What is the command Harry opts for?

Answer: "Kreacher, shut up!"

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince": "Kreacher's voice had risen to a scream. Harry could think of nothing to say, except, 'Kreacher, shut up!'"

Harry doesn't want anything to do with Kreacher, since the elf was part of the reason Sirius died. When Harry went to check if Sirius was home after having a vision of his torture, Kreacher told him that Sirius was gone and would not be coming back. This led Harry to rush off to the Ministry, a task which ultimately ended with Sirius' death.
8. In "Half-Blood Prince", what information does Professor Trelawney reveal that enrages Harry and causes him to storm into Dumbledore's office and demand an explanation?

Answer: Snape was the one who revealed the prophecy to Lord Voldemort

In the chapter "The Seer Overheard", Professor Trelawney reveals Snape's guilt. She and Harry had been walking to Dumbledore's office together, but this new information enrages and distracts Harry. He tells her to stay there as he charges into Dumbledore's office, only to be momentarily sidetracked by Dumbledore's discovery of a Horcrux's location.
9. In "Deathly Hallows", what goes through Harry's head as he watches his six doppelgangers prepare to leave Privet Drive?

Answer: He wishes they'd have more respect for his privacy

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows": "Harry watched as his six doppelgangers rummaged in the sacks, pulling out sets of clothes, putting on glasses, stuffing their own things away. He felt like asking them to show a little more respect for his privacy as they all began stripping off with impunity, clearly much more at ease with displaying his body than they would have been with their own."

Harry isn't happy with this plan in the first place. He doesn't like the idea of a bunch of people putting themselves in grave danger to protect him. He tries to protest, but the group doesn't listen.
10. In "Deathly Hallows", when Harry allowed himself to be hit by the killing curse, he found himself in what appeared to him as King's Cross Station. What was the deformed creature he wanted to help?

Answer: The piece of Voldemort's soul that was attached to his

Voldemort killed the part of himself that was living inside Harry. It was so damaged, so far from human, that it could not be helped. Harry's own good, pure soul was whole, and he was able to make the choice to return to the living world and continue to fight.
