Medea is supposed to be dead but with a little help from her patron, she isn't dead. She has a department store in Chicago (with its entrance being in a sewer)and she is able to charmspeak Jason and Leo into shopping with her. Medea tries to talk them into killing each other but Piper is able to talk them out of killing each other and they end up fighting Medea.

Percy and Jason end up switching camps. His girlfriend, Annabeth Chase, has been searching for him for three days, six hours, and about twelve minutes (that's what she tells Piper). The next book of the series, "The Son of Neptune", is about Percy and his time at the legion camp in San Francisco.

It is right next to the giant king Porphyrion's ditch where he is about rise. Hera has a choice: marry Porphyrion or be consumed by the earth. She tells Jason, Piper, and Leo she cannot marry him.

Thalia is the daughter of Zeus, not Jupiter. Hera tells them that never before have there been two children, Greek and Roman, born into the same family. Thalia ends up joining the Hunters of Artemis, then she and Jason finally see each other again. The Hunters of Artemis had been following a trail that would lead them to Percy.

Poor Khione has never been honored or known, even in Greek times. Leo thinks she is really pretty. Khione desperately wants Boreas to kill Jason and Piper, but is angry when her father grants them a safe trip and expects them to get killed. So to help with that, she ends up freezing the wires in Festus the bronze dragon's head, which Jason, Piper, and Leo end up crashing in a closed car plant in Detroit.
