Hylla is the Queen of Amazons. Percy, Hazel, and Frank travel to meet the Amazons to ask for help, according to Reyna. Reyna is her sister. Kinzie is just an Amazon. Otrera is the past queen.

Hazel died in 1942 while preventing Alcyoneus, the eldest giant born to oppose Pluto, son of Gaea, from awakening. Technically, Hazel awakened him by her mother's influence upon her, but when she realized what she had done, she caused the cavern where the giant was forming to collapse. In the process of doing so, she killed herself and her mother.

Frank first turned into an eagle when he tried to save Hazel from getting killed by Alcyoneus after he unchained Thanatos. After that, he turned into a bear, elephant, and seal in his fight.

Polybotes, the giant born to oppose Neptune, stepped inside the Pomerian Line, and broke the statue of Terminus. This caused Terminus to be outraged, so he agreed to help Percy. Percy stabbed the giant's chest with Riptide, and slammed Terminus's broken stone head in his face. This caused him to dissolve, in other words, die for now. Mars and Thanatos do not help him. Gaea is an enemy.
