Question 4 of 15
4. 'Ah, the poor child! My lord, we do wrong to keep our guests standing. Quick, some of you! Take them away. Give them food and wine and baths. Comfort the little girl. Give her lollipops, give her dolls, give her physics, give her all you can think of--possets and comfits and caraways and lullabies and toys. Don't cry, little girl, or you won't be good for anything when the feast comes.' Hint

Question 5 of 15
5. 'Why, Son of Adam, don't you understand? A Centaur has a man-stomach and a horse-stomach. And of course both want breakfast. So first of all he has porridge and pavenders and kidneys and bacon and omelette and cold ham and toast and marmalade and coffee and beer. And after that he attends to the horse part of himself by grazing for an hour or so and finishing up with a hot mash, some oats, and a bag of sugar. That's why it's such a serious thing to ask a Centaur to stay for the weekend. A very serious thing indeed.' Hint

Question 6 of 15
6. 'Now then, Pole. Everyone knows you're there. Down you come.' Hint

Question 7 of 15
7. 'Blue faces. I didn't know they were that color. Don't care about it myself. But I dare say you look quite nice to one another. Beetles fancy other beetles, they do say.' Hint

Question 8 of 15
8. 'That is old Father Time, who was once a King in Overland. And now he has sunk down into the Deep Realm and lies dreaming of all the things that are done in the upper world. Many sink down, and few return to the sunlit lands. They say he will wake at the end of the world.' Hint

Question 9 of 15
9. 'This is the greatest shame and sorrow that could have fallen on us. We have sent a brave lady into the hands of the enemy and stayed behind in safety.'

Answer: (Two acceptable answers. One or Two Words.)
Question 10 of 15
10. 'All right, all right. You needn't shout. I'm not so deaf as all that. What do you mean by coming here to tell me that nobody's been killed? Why should anyone have been killed?' Hint

There I'll pick you bunches of rubies that you can eat and squeeze you a cupful of diamond juice. You won't care much about fingering the cold, dead treasures of your shallow mines after you have tasted the live ones in Bism.' Hint

Question 13 of 15
13. 'Oh, *good.* How lovely! And we *may* come to the feast tomorrow night, mayn't we? We're so longing for tomorrow night! And we do love being here. And while you're out, we may run over the whole castle and see everything, mayn't we? Do say yes.'

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Nothing wrong with me. Not a frog. Nothing frog with me. I'm a repectabiggle.'

Answer: Puddleglum

He got drunk in Harfang.
2. 'The ruined city? That is a strange place to be seeking. What will you do if you find it?'

Answer: The Lady of the Green Kirtle

She trilled her r's beautifully. Puddleglum, Pole, and Scrubb met her just after crossing the giant bridge.
3. 'Don't kill me, I'm tough. You won't like me.' Who quoted this information.

Answer: Puddleglum

That was a trick question, actually. Puddleglum is the one who said it, but he was quoting a giant who was quoting the stag they were eating. But Puddleglum is the one who actually *says* it in the book.
Don't cry, little girl, or you won't be good for anything when the feast comes.'

Answer: The Queen of Harfang

They were standing in the royal court when Jill started to cry. Her nerves just gave out on her.
A very serious thing indeed.'

Answer: Orruns

The Centaurs got up before light and weren't done eating when it was almost ten o'clock. Scrubb commented that they must eat a very big breakfast. He just didn't know how big it really was.
6. 'Now then, Pole. Everyone knows you're there. Down you come.'

Answer: Edith Jackle

Right before Scrubb and Pole escaped through the door into Narnia.
7. 'Blue faces. I didn't know they were that color. Don't care about it myself. But I dare say you look quite nice to one another. Beetles fancy other beetles, they do say.'

Answer: The Porter

Right after he let them into Harfang from the snow-storm.
8. 'That is old Father Time, who was once a King in Overland. And now he has sunk down into the Deep Realm and lies dreaming of all the things that are done in the upper world. Many sink down, and few return to the sunlit lands. They say he will wake at the end of the world.'

Answer: The Warden

The Warden of the gnomes and about 50 other gnomes were taking Scrubb, Pole, and Puddleglum to the Underworld.
9. 'This is the greatest shame and sorrow that could have fallen on us. We have sent a brave lady into the hands of the enemy and stayed behind in safety.'

Answer: Rilian

This was right after Jill disappeared through the hole in the wall. They didn't know she was safe in Narnia.
10. 'All right, all right. You needn't shout. I'm not so deaf as all that. What do you mean by coming here to tell me that nobody's been killed? Why should anyone have been killed?'

Answer: Trumpkin

The entire conversation between Glimfeather and Trumpkin went something like this: 'Tu-whoo! Ahem! Lord Regent.' 'Heh? What's that?' 'Two strangers, my lord.' 'Rangers! What d'ya mean? I see two uncommonly grubby man-cubs. What do they want?' 'My names Jill.' That's not Glimfeather talking. 'The girl's called Jill.' That's Glimfeather. 'What's that? The girls are all killed! I don't believe a word of it. What girls? Who killed 'em?' 'Only one girl, my lord.

Her name is Jill.' 'Speak up, speak up. Don't stand there buzzing and twittering in my ear. Who's been killed?' 'Nobody's been killed.' 'Who?' 'NOBODY.' Then we have our beautiful quote up-top. 'Better tell him I'm Eustace,' said Scrubb. 'The boy's Eustace, my lord.' 'Useless? I dare say he is. Is that any reason for bringing him to court? Hey?' 'Not useless. EUSTACE.' 'Used to it, is he? I don't know what you're talking about, I'm sure...'
11. 'Oh Lor! Is this a time for stopping to admire the view? For goodness' sake let's get on.'

Answer: Scrubb

They were on the ruined city, and Puddleglum had noticed. But Scrubb and Pole were too set on hot baths and real beds to pay any attention.
12. 'I have heard of those little scratches in the crust that you Topdwellers call mines. But that's where you get dead gold, dead silver, dead gems. Down in Bism, we have them alive and growing. There I'll pick you bunches of rubies that you can eat and squeeze you a cupful of diamond juice. You won't care much about fingering the cold, dead treasures of your shallow mines after you have tasted the live ones in Bism.'

Answer: Golg

Golg invited Rilian, Pole, Puddleglum, and Scrubb to come down to Bism with him. But they ended up not going.
13. 'Oh, *good.* How lovely! And we *may* come to the feast tomorrow night, mayn't we? We're so longing for tomorrow night! And we do love being here. And while you're out, we may run over the whole castle and see everything, mayn't we? Do say yes.'

Answer: Jill

Jill said this to the queen of Harfang when she, Scrubb, and Puddleglum were 'playing gay.'
14. What did Scrubb very sensibly offer Pole (and he had one, too)?

Answer: peppermint

She had been crying.
15. What courses are Man served between at the Autumn Feast?

Answer: Fish

Giant's cookbook: 'MAN. This elegant little biped has long been valued as a delicacy. It forms a traditional part of the Autumn Feast, and is served between the fish and the joint. Each Man--' We don't know what it says after that because Jill stopped reading.
