Answer: Aleksei Leonov

Belyayev and Leonov were aboard the two man Soviet Voskhod 2 spacecraft - an adaptation of Vostok, Russia's first manned capsule -when the latter took his historic, twenty minute,(tethered) walk on March 18, 1965. Ten years later, Leonov was also part of the joint Apollo/Soyuz Test Project.
2. Who won the 2004 Archibald Prize for portraiture?

Answer: Craig Ruddy

Ruddy won with a massive charcoal portrait of the Aboriginal actor, David Gulpilil. Bergstrom's entry in the same category was highly commended. Mitelman won the Sulman Prize for best subject, genre, or mural painting, while McNicol won the Photographic Portrait Prize.
The Archibald Prize was established in accordance with the wishes of J.F. Archibald, who, with John Haynes co-founded "The Bulletin" magazine in 1880. The Prize, first awarded in 1921, is administered by the Trustees of The Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Answer: Edmund Barton

Edmund Barton was born on 18 February 1849 in Glebe, a Sydney suburb. His father ,William, was Sydney's first stockbroker. Barton became Prime Minister upon Federation on 1 January 1901, and served until ill health forced his resignation on 24 September, 1903. He died in 1920.

The title is taken from act3, sc. 3: "Pride, pomp and circumstances of glorious war!". Elgar (1857-1934) completed four of the five concert marches which make up the "Pomp and Circumstance" suite between 1901 and 1907. The fifth wasn't completed until 1930. This delay was due mainly to the devastating effect that the First World War - and his wife Alice's death in 1920 - had on the composer.
