Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What band had a hit with "Color My World"?

Answer: Chicago

A big hit at proms and weddings, "Color My World" went to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1971. It was released as the B side of "Beginnings".
2. Will, Miss O'Hara, and the letter "A" have this shade in common. Name it.

Answer: Scarlet

Will Scarlett was one of the merry men in "The Adventures of Robin Hood". Scarlett O'Hara had trouble hanging on to her men in the novel and movie "Gone with the Wind". Finally, Hester Prynne was charged with adultery in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter" and had to wear the letter "A".
3. "By the way, which one's ___________?" What colorful nickname is missing from this lyric from "Have A Cigar"?

Answer: Pink

This was one of the tracks on Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album, a sarcastic number about the music business.
4. What is an American breed of chicken known for its egg-laying abilities?

Answer: Rhode Island Red

The Rhode Island Red is the state bird of Rhode Island. It lays large brown eggs. The Black Australorp lays plenty of medium-size brown eggs, but the breed is from Australia. The Buckhorn White and Jersey Red are not real breeds.
5. What color is NOT in the flag of Amsterdam?

Answer: Blue

Adopted on February 5, 1975, the flag of the city of Amsterdam is red, white and black. It depicts three St. Andrews crosses on a red background.
6. What color ribbon was made famous by Tony Orlando and Dawn?

Answer: Yellow

"Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" became a hit in 1973. Yellow ribbons were famously tied to trees during the Iran hostage situation in 1979-1981. Americans use the yellow ribbon symbol to show their support for the troops.
7. Which was NEVER a CrayolaŽ crayon color?

Answer: Platinum Blonde

Binney and Smith produced the first box of CrayolaŽ crayons in 1903. There were eight crayons in a box which sold for five cents. Cornflower, Burnt Sienna and Prussian Blue were included in the 48-box of crayons available between 1949-1957. Prussian Blue was a color, but was changed to Midnight Blue in 1958.
8. What color "pie" would you win if you correctly answered a question in the Sports & Leisure category of the Genus edition of Trivial Pursuit?

Answer: Orange

The Blue category is Geography, Pink is Entertainment, and Green is Science & Nature. The other categories in Genus edition are Art & Literature (Brown) and History (Yellow).
9. Which is NOT a famous (colorfully named) band from the 1960s-70s?

Answer: Whiter Shade of Pale

"Whiter Shade of Pale" is a song title, not a band's name. According to a chart compiled for BBC Radio 2, "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum was one of the most played songs in UK public places over the past 75 years. The song has been covered more than 800 times, famously by Annie Lennox on her 1995 solo album, "Medusa".
10. Lefty Lucy is our calico cat. What color will you NOT see on her coat?

Answer: Blue

Calico refers to the pattern of the coloring on a cat's coat and is not a breed of cat. Calicos are usually female and the "white spotting" gene is what slows down the migration of cells on the kitten's coat. If the kitten has a lot of white, the patches of color (orange, where you can see the tabby cat pattern, and black) will be larger. Two X chromosomes are needed for a calico coat.
