Marie Laveau was an African American woman who reputedly practiced voodoo and died in early 1881. She supposedly haunted the cemetery as a black dog or crow, scaring visitors of the cemetery. Visitors to the cemetery marked the tombs where Laveau was said to be buried as a way of bringing them good luck.

Answer: Abraham Lincoln

People have claimed to have seen the ghost of Abraham Lincoln looking through the windows of the Oval Office and getting ready for bed in his bedroom. In one instance, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands was staying in the White House while visiting President Roosevelt. She answered the knock on her door to find Abraham Lincoln standing in the doorway with a hat on his head.
3. The Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. housed Henry Doherty and his family for a time. What member of his family surprisingly passed away in their room while they were living there?

Henry Doherty and his family moved into the Omni Shoreham Hotel to stay for a short time. While they were living there, Henry's daughter Helen passed away in her room. Before the Doherty's daughter died, their housekeeper Juliette passed away in her room in the same circumstances.

There was no sign of foul play or medical reason for either of their deaths. The remaining Dohertys moved out of the hotel in 1973. The suite the Dohertys occupied is known as the Ghost Suite because of the ghostly things that have happened in the suite since the deaths of the Doherty daughter and housekeeper.

The ghost of La Llorona supposedly wanders the countryside of Mexico wearing a white gown and crying for her children who drowned. Legend had it that the woman killed her sons after being spurned by their father. When she realized what she had done, it was too late to save the children and the woman died of grief.

Julie was the mistress of a Frenchman who frequented the house on 734 Royal Street in New Orleans. Julie loved her Frenchman very much and she would do anything to please him. When her lover suggested she wait for him naked on the rooftop of 734 Royal Street, Julie waited for him, not knowing her lover was joking.

When the Frenchman returned to the room the two shared together, Julie wasn't there. Remembering what he had told Julie, the Frenchman ran up to the roof where he found Julie dead from exposure to the cold New Orleans night.

While Julie's ghost is said to haunt 734 Royal Street, the ghost of the Frenchman is said to haunt the gardens around the house where Julie died.

After that night, many people swear they see a light moving up and down the Maco train tracks at night where Joe was killed.

The Octagon House was home to President James Madison and his wife Dolley in the early 1800s while the White House was being rebuilt after the British set fire to it. Dolley's ghost is said to leave lilac perfume trails in the hallways in the morning after she has walked them during the night, and she has been seen dancing in the ballroom.

In 1823, Jean Lafitte died. His ghost now reportedly resides at the bar that used to be the blacksmith shop where he worked in the 1700s. Little is known of how Jean Lafitte died.
