Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Guilty Pleasure #1: Air guitar in front of the mirror. In his tighty whities, who acted out a rock star to a great Bob Seger tune?

Answer: Tom Cruise

A classic scene from Cruise's break-out role in "Risky Business". "Today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that ol' time rock 'n' roll". Doing the "gator" on the couch.
2. GP #2: Junk food at the movies. What color "Dot" will NOT show up in your extra-jumbo-sized box of traditional "Dots"?

Answer: blue

Years ahead of the whole "gummi" thing, "Dots" have been sticking to the teeth of movie fans for years. "Dots" has recently expanded into a tropical fruit line and 'hot' "Dots".
3. GP #3: Stupid, juvenile humor. Which has been "Mad" magazine's main magazine competition?

Answer: Cracked

You can't beat "Mad" for the best in lowest-common-denominator humor, thanks to William Gaines, the brains behind the stupidity.
4. GP #4: William Shatner. In what classic episode of "The Twlight Zone" did Bill appear?

Answer: Nightmare at 20,000 Feet

Shatner plays a distraught airline passenger who's the only one who can see the gremlin trashing the aircraft's wing. And when he pulls down the shade....then just has to look...and the gremlin is right there at the window...
5. GP #5: Really good, home-made onion rings. What famous baseball player refused to eat fried foods 'cause they "anger up the blood"?

Answer: Satchel Paige

Paige played most of his career in the Negro Leagues, though when the color line was finally broken, he pitched a while in the bigs. Some suggest he was over 50 at the time. Paige is also famous for saying, "Don't look back, somethin' might be gainin' on you". Could be the onion rings.
6. GP #6: Reading trashy books at the beach. Who wrote the consummate beach read, "Love Story"?

Answer: Erich Segal

Can be read in a day or two, weak on character development and a contrived storyline, it'll have you crying your eyes out, but in a good way.
7. GP #7. Renting videos and taking the phone off the hook. I want to watch this Robert Altman film starring Susannah York.

Answer: Images

Altman has made some incredible movies. "Images" stars Susannah York as a children's book author who is slowly going insane. Through the use of a variety of camera tricks and plot twists, the viewer is never sure whether what we're seeing is real or the imaginings of an insane kiddie lit writer. Great cast, beautiful scenery but, for some reason, it's never been released for home use or even TV.
8. GP #8: The BeeGees disco period. Before they earned their mirror balls, this brother act from Australia had a bunch of hits that weren't tainted by the disco stigma. Which of the following was NOT an early BeeGees hit?

Answer: I'll Be Strong

The Brothers Gibb (BeeGees) had a bunch of hits including "I Just Got To Get a Message to You" and "To Love Somebody" and "Lonely Days". ("Where would I be without my woman.")
9. GP #9: The perfect vodka martini (preferably, a double). Traditionally, from what fruit, vegetable or grain is vodka made?

Answer: potatoes

Today, traditional, potato-based vodkas are in the minority, even among premium stock. Today, grains like wheat are used as the fermentation base because it's cheaper. If you want the real deal you have to read the label or ask the barkeep. Cheers.
10. GP #10: Letting it ride on red. Foxwoods Casino is a great place to let it ride at the roulette wheel. In what state is Foxwoods located?

Answer: Connecticut

Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun are huge casino complexes in southeast Connecticut, with 25% of all slot revenues going into state coffers.
