Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which phobia is the fear of being last?

Answer: telosphobia

From the Greek word "telos" meaning "end". (Thanatophobia is fear of death, iophobia is fear of being poisoned and pantophobia is fear of everything.)
2. What was the last thing left in Pandora's box?

Answer: Hope

In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman, created by Zeus. Pandora found a box containing all manner of evils (such as misery, disease and hard work). Though warned not to open it, curiosity got the better of her and the evils were unleashed on mankind. The lid was shut in time to prevent the escape of Hope.
3. Which rock group was the subject of the movie "The Last Waltz"?

Answer: The Band

The Band performed their last concert on November 26, 1976 (Thanksgiving Day). Martin Scorcese made a spectacular movie of it, acclaimed by many as the best concert film ever. As well as The Band, it featured Emmylou Harris, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, to name but a few.
4. What was Michelangelo's last name?

Answer: Simoni

Most trivia and quiz sources say it is Buonarroti but in fact Michelangelo's full name was Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti SIMONI. He was born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, Florence (Italy) and died on February 18, 1564, in Rome. He is considered to be one of the greatest artists of all time.
5. Who was the last of the six wives of King Henry VIII (she outlived him)?

Answer: Catherine Parr

Probably the most well known fact about King Henry VIII is that he had six wives. This has often been interpreted as a sign of lust but in reality it had more to do with his obsession with producing a male heir for the succession. While Henry holds the record as the King of England with the most wives, his sixth wife, Catherine Parr, holds the record as the Queen of England with the most husbands.

She had four husbands - in order, Edward (Lord Borough), John Neville (Lord Latimer), Henry VIII and Thomas Seymour.
6. Who was the last married Catholic pope?

Answer: Adrian II (867-872)

Adrian II was the last married Catholic pope. He was married before he became pope but refused to give up his wife or become celibate when he accepted this office. (Adrian III was Saint Adrian. Adrian IV (real name Nicholas Breakspear) was the only English pope. Adrian V was pope for only 39 days.)
7. The last episode of which popular television show was entitled "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen"?

Answer: M*A*S*H

The final episode was broadcast on February 28, 1983. At that time, it was the most widely watched and the highest rating episode ever for a US television series.
8. The members of which profession use a tool called a "last"?

Answer: cobblers

A last is a model of a human foot on which boots or shoes are shaped during their creation or repair.
9. Who is generally considered to be the last victim of Jack the Ripper?

Answer: Mary Jayne Kelly

Mary Jayne Kelly (also known as Marie Jeanette Kelly, Marie Jeanette Davies, Mary Ann Kelly, "Fair Emma" and "Ginger") was found murdered on Friday, November 9, 1888. She was the only one of his victims found indoors - murdered in her own bed.
10. Who was the last of the twelve Caesars?

Answer: Domitian

An unpopular and cruel emperor, Domitian (81-96 AD) was the last of the twelve Caesars whose biographies were written by the historian Suetonius. Domitian was assassinated in a conspiracy involving his chamberlain, the Praetorian prefect (who was in charge of his security) and his wife, Domitia Longina. According to legend, his favourite pastime was watching women and dwarves fight to the death in the arena.
