Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (the creators of Superman), James Bartholomew Olsen works for the "Daily Planet" as a photographer. Perry White is the editor of the paper and Clark Kent (AKA Superman) and Lois Lane are reporters with whom Jimmy often works. An unnamed office worker who is retroactively claimed to be Jimmy Olson is the first appearance of the character in the comics in 1938. Mehcad Brooks, Jack Larson, and Mark McClure are some of the actors who have portrayed Jimmy Olsen.

James Henry Trotter was the title character from Roald Dahl's 1961 children's book "James and the Giant Peach". James is an orphaned boy who lives with his cruel aunts, Spiker and Sponge.
