Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1978 which soda decided to do a promotion containing 64 different can designs, all saluting people of the Denver Broncos?

Answer: Crush

Crush saluted 64 major people of the Broncos in the late 1970's, probably because they had orange cans already. Some people represented on the cans included manager Fred Gehrke and head coach Robert "Red" Miller.
2. What "Everybody Loves Raymond" cast member's first sitcom was the 1988 CBS series "First Impressions"?

Answer: Brad Garrett

The very short-lived 1988 "First Impressions" featured Brad Garrett, playing a divorced father who made his living doing impressions. No, this summer series didn't last very long.
3. How old was Elvis Presley when he died?

Answer: 42

Very sadly, after overdosing on cocaine and other drugs, Elvis Presley was found dead in a Graceland bathroom on August 16, 1977. Later, it was found he died of an "irregular heartbeat." The King made 33 movies and sold millions of albums up until then.
4. Which of the following animals can be collectively called a "smack"?

Answer: Jellyfish

A group of jellyfish can be called a smack, as well as a brood or a smuck. Interesting terms for the others: a group of giraffes can be a corps, a group of crocodiles can be a bask or a float, and, my personal favorite...a group of buffalo can be an obstinacy.
5. Mount Kosciusko is the highest point of what country?

Answer: Australia

Mt. Kosciusko and the other nine Top 10 Highest Mountains of Australia are located very close to each other (all being less than 4 mi apart). Geographically, the mountains in the Snowy Mountains range around New South Wales and Victoria help to form part of the Great Dividing Range.
6. What is the alias of the famous superhero whose biological mother was named Martha?

Answer: Bruce Wayne

Martha was Batman's mother, and, of course, Batman used the alias of Bruce Wayne. Batman actually first premiered in the 27th issue of Detective Comics, where he won over his criminal by throwing him into a tub of acid! Many, at first, considered the fictional character to be very dark. And, just in case you wondered, Superman's mom would be Lara.
7. What baseball team defeated the Cleveland Indians in 1997 to win the World Series in seven games?

Answer: Florida Marlins

The Florida Marlins won their first World Series of all time in 1997, against the Cleveland Indians. The team managed to duplicate that feat in 2003, defeating the New York Yankees.
8. In the 1964 TV special "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", what occupation did Hermey, the misfit elf, want to become?

Answer: Dentist

Paul Soles voiced Hermey in the classic 1964 TV special. Other voice talents included the great Burl Ives who voiced the classic snowman and Billy Richards who voiced Rudolph.
9. Ginkgo Biloba has been strongly debated in the past to have been helpful in treating which of the following ailments?

Answer: Short-term Memory Loss

Although it has been claimed that ginkgo biloba has been thought to been helpful, many have in the past questioned its true working ability. Other uses of the herb have been to attempt to reverse various effects of aging and even a dietary supplement.
10. OK, you've got the nine clues...what is the common bond?

Answer: Finding Nemo

Yes, all of the words in some way relate to one of my favorite movies of the 2003 movie season--Finding Nemo (notice the word "Finding" in the introduction?). Certain characters in the movie include the clownfish MARLIN (7), the turtle CRUSH (1), and the shark BRUCE (6).

While traveling along, Marlin and Dory [who suffers from SHORT-TERM MEMORY LOSS (9)] encounter some JELLYFISH (4). Their ultimate goal is to try to rescue Nemo from a DENTIST (8) who lives in Sydney, AUSTRALIA (5) at 42 (3) Wallaby Way (Dory became quite well at memorizing this). One of the many voice talents of this film was BRAD GARRETT (2), who voiced Bloat, the blowfish with a temper. Hope you enjoyed the quiz!
