3. Complete the Pattern : 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, ____

Answer: 196

The pattern is squares of integers 1-14 or add three, add 5, etc.
4. To calculate how many feet are between first and third base on a standard Major League Baseball field, whose theory would you use?

Answer: Pythagoras

To solve use the Pythagorean Theory that A^2+B^2=C^2. The distance between home plate and first base is 90 feet. The distance between home plate and third base is 90 feet. 90^2=8100. 2 x 8100=16200. The square root of 16200 has to be factored, you can factor 90, 90, and 2.

The 90 goes outside the radical (two 90s) and the two stays under the radical (^(1/2)) resulting in 90(2)^(1/2).
5. If I were to run an exameter, how far would I have run (metric)?

Answer: 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 meters
