Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the art museum seen each year in the annual "Tournament of Roses" parade (the museum has a big rose painted on it)?

Answer: Norton Simon Museum

The "Tournament of Roses" parade takes place every New Year's Day in Pasadena, California and the art museum pictured in the parade with the rose painted on it is none other than the Norton Simon Museum. The J. Paul Getty Museum is located in Los Angeles.

The L.A.C.M.A is also located, where else, but Los Angeles. The L.A.C.M.A is located right next to The Page Museum a.k.a "The La Brea Tar Pits." The Huntington Library is located in the small town of San Marino, California, a spitting distance from Pasadena. I have been to the Getty Museum, the L.A.C.M.A, and the Huntington, but I haven't been to the Norton Simon Musuem (well, not yet anyway).
2. Garrison Keillor's radio show, "A Prairie Home Companion," talks about life in his hometown of Lake Woebegon, right out there on the prairie. What product is Garrison always endorsing in his radio shows?

Answer: Powdered milk

They have this little, corny jingle on the radio show about powdered milk, which I find funny :) Garrison Keillor is an interesting and funny guy and I love listening to his show on the radio. Let me know if you're a fan of Keillor's radio show. ;)
3. Who was the only president in U.S. history to have remained a bachelor all his life?

Answer: James Buchanan

Grover Cleveland actually got married during his presidency and both Harrison and Taft were married by the time they became president. James Buchanan never married and I'm not sure why.
4. Which one of these is not an actual game on "The Late Show with David Letterman?"

Answer: "If they mated"

"If they mated" is a feature on Conan O'Brien's late night show, featuring the possible offspring of two celebrities if they ever mated. "Know your cuts of meat" is pretty much self-explanatory and is featured on Dave's show. "Stupid human tricks" along with "Stupid pet tricks" are also featured on Dave's show. "Celebrity X-Ray Challenge" is featured on the David Letterman show which involves Rupert from the Hello Deli picking someone from the audience to identify the celebrity by their their X-Ray and their voice on the telephone (also featuring Dr. Lou Aroni, Dave's doctor, who makes the diagnosis of the ailment).
5. You've always heard of the "blue plate special" at a local diner but what is a "blue light special"?

Answer: A sale at K-Mart

6. Which of these movies never won an Oscar for best picture?

Answer: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

I actually expected 'LOTR' to win the Oscar for best picture because of how well it was made and directed.
7. Out of these four musicians, which one died last?

Answer: Ginger Baker from Cream

John Entwistle died along with Dee Dee Ramone in the year 2002. George Harrison died from cancer in 2001. Ginger Baker died in 2019.
8. How old do you have to be in order to run for president of the United States?

Answer: 35

You also have to be a U.S. citizen, born in the U.S., and have lived in the U.S. for a certain amount of time. It should be noted that you can be 34 years old and run for the Presidency as long as one turns 35 before or on Inauguration Day. There is no maximum age.
9. When was the last time the Red Sox ever won a World Series in the twentieth century?

Answer: 1918

One would think they'd be capable of having several titles with all the very talented players on their team. The year 1986 was the year they made the World Series but lost to the Mets.
10. Here's an easy one for you NASCAR fans out there. What is Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s racecar number?

Answer: 88

Earnhardt Jr. is #88 while the late Earnhardt Sr. was #3. My favorite racer, Jimmie Johnson, is #48 (because he's originally from the San Diego, CA area, where I live) and my mom's favorite racer, Mark Martin, is #6.
