The Oxford and Cambridge Cup is competed on an annual bases since 1893 between all Australia University rowing eights. The trophy was donated by the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. As of 2019 the University of Melbourne had won the trophy 42 times with the University of Sydney with 41 wins.

The boat race between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge was first held in 1829 and the winning eight receive "The Boat Race Trophy". There is an annual boat rowing race between the Universities of Harvard and Yale which was first competed for in 1852.

The name of the trophy has changed over the years. The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) members compete in a number of sports.
