John Constable (1776-1837) was born in East Bergholt, Suffolk. His most famous work is 'The Haywain', on display at The National Gallery, London. In 1990 'The Lock' was sold at Sotheby's, London for £10.78 million.
2. Which English author created the character Horatio Hornblower?

Answer: C. S. Forester

Cecil Scott Forester (1899-1966) wrote the series of books, set in Napoleonic times, that spanned the career of Hornblower from Midshipman to Admiral.

Westminster Abbey ('Place of Worship, House of Kings') is a Gothic church in Central London which was consecrated by Edward the Confessor in 1065. Its official name is the Collegiate Church of St Peter. Since William I nearly all English monarchs have been crowned here.

Many of England's great poets have been buried in Poet's Corner in the Abbey, Geoffrey Chaucer (c.1340-1400) author of "The Canterbury Tales" being the first.
