Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following 20th century presidents of the United States did NOT serve as governor prior to being president?

Answer: Gerald Ford

Gerald Ford was never the governor of a state. George W. Bush was the governor of Texas from 1995-2000. Ronald Reagan was the governor of California from 1966-1974. Woodrow Wilson was the governor of New Jersey from 1911-1913.
2. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, of Sherlock Holmes fame, wrote all of the following except...?

Answer: "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar"

"The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" was written by Edgar Allan Poe, and published in 1845. The other three were written by Doyle, but only "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" featured Sherlock Holmes.
3. Which of these swingin' heavy metal classics does not fit with the others? Hint: It has nothing to do with the artists' country of origin, or the fact that one of them was by a solo artist.

Answer: "Welcome To The Jungle"

The other three appeared on laid-back Pat Boone's 1997 album "In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy" (an album of easy listening remakes of heavy metal songs). Mr. Boone did do a version of Guns N Roses' "Paradise City", but not "Welcome To The Jungle".
4. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! Select the sporty classic car that was not introduced in the 1960s.

Answer: Chevy Corvette

The Corvette was the only one to have been in production in the 1950s. It was introduced to the buying public in 1953. The other three models debuted in the middle 1960s.
5. Don't miss the boat on this one. Which one of these states does not geographically go with the others? Hint: Re-read the whole question again for a clue.

Answer: Arizona

Arizona does not border an ocean, while the other three states do. The first part of the question says "Don't miss the boat...", too obvious?
6. Which of the following Hall of Fame athletes has never played for the Cardinals?

Answer: Charlie Joiner

Charlie Joiner played football for the Houston Oilers, Cincinnati Bengals, and the San Diego Chargers, but not for the Cardinals. Jim Thorpe played football for the Chicago Cardinals in 1928. Mordecai Brown played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1903, and Stan Musial played for them from 1941-1944 and 1946-1963.
7. Three of the following Muppets were operated by same person, which one was not?

Answer: Guy Smiley

Frank Oz was the "muppeteer" responsible for Cookie Monster, Fozzie Bear and Miss Piggy among others. Guy Smiley (as well as Kermit the Frog) was operated by Jim Henson.
8. By definition, which one of these strange words would be considered the oddball?

Answer: hiloper

The hiloper is not a unit of measurement, or even a real word as far as I can tell. 60 minims equal one dram, or an eighth of a fluid ounce. A sthene is a unit of force equal to 1,000 newtons, also known as a kilonewton. The brix is a measurement of concentration (usually sugar), in the production of wine, syrups, and others.
9. Picture this. You are attending a movie marathon at your local theater. You watch the following four movies then realize that three of them had the same actor in them, which one did not?

Answer: "Zachariah"

Henry Winkler did not appear in "Zachariah". He appeared in "Heroes" in 1977. One of his first film appearances was as Mannie in the 1974 mob flick "Crazy Joe", and he has kept his career alive by acting in such movies as 1998's "The Waterboy".
10. Which one of these following people were not born on April 15th?

Answer: Jean-Paul Sartre

While Jean-Paul Sartre was not born on April 15th, he did die on that date in 1980.
