Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A popular expression refers to having almost everything: "Everything but the kitchen ___". Which word fills the blank?

Answer: Sink

"Everything but the kitchen sink" seems to have not become a common expression until the mid-1900s. Since then, it has certainly made up lost ground towards become a cliched expression.
2. While developing questions for this quiz, I stumbled upon references to the Everything2 Community. Where would one find this community?

Answer: On-line (It's a web-based community)

Everything2 was created in 1998. It is described as "a collaborative Web-based community" that includes many genres including blogs, poetry and factual articles. When I took a quick look at the site, I read briefly about the meaning of art.
3. In 1970, Ray Stevens released one of his number one Billboard Hits, "Everything Is Beautiful". This was a more serious song than most of his releases, which are usually humorous and often topical. Which Ray Stevens song did not crack the Top Ten?

Answer: Mississippi Squirrel Revival

"The Streak" (1974) was Ray Steven's other number one hit. "Ahab the Arab" rose to number five in 1962. "Gitarzan" was a number eight hit in 1969. "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" only made it to number 20 in 1984.
4. Which country produced the musical duo Everything But The Girl?

Answer: England

Formed in 1982, the duo included Tracy Thorn and Ben Watt. The two were students at the University of Hull in England. Their biggest hit was "Missing" from 1995. Over the years, the two have been rather quiet about their private lives, which I can certainly understand.
5. "The Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour" was initially designed to promote the album "Everything That Happens Will Happen ___". What word fills in the blank?

Answer: Today

The tour took place in 2008-2009. David Byrne was the headliner for the tour. Brian Eno did not tour. The tour drew on over 30 years of their collaborations, including several songs from Talking Heads. The tour covered four continents: North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
6. Which science fiction series by Douglas Adams included "Life, the Universe and Everything" as its third volume?

Answer: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The book was published in 1982 by Adams (1952-2001). The series focuses on Earthling Arthur Dent. "The Belgariad" was the work of David (and Leigh) Eddings. "The Foundation" series was created by Isaac Asimov.
7. From the movie and soundtrack for "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" comes the Bryan Adams song that begins "(Everything I Do)..." How does the title of the song end?

Answer: I Do It For You

Recorded in 1991, this number one song was the biggest hit of his career for Canadian Bryan Adams. The movie starred Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, and Alan Rickman.
8. I remember reading, when I was in high school, a book called "Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten". It actually turns out that the book has a somewhat different title. It was "All I Really ___ to Know I Learned in Kindergarten". What is that missing word? (Maybe my memory wasn't so bad.)

Answer: Need

Minister and author Robert Fulghum (born 1937) wrote this classic work in 1988. It is a collection of short essays based on the premise that we would be much happier if we followed the lessons that we learned in kindergarten, such as sharing and being kind to each other.
9. A popular song of yesteryear was "Everything But You". Who was the lyricist? (By Golly, I think you've got it. No, wait, that's not quite it...)

Answer: George, Don

The song was written in 1945. Duke Ellington and Harry James were the co-composers of the music. Duke Ellington and his orchestra released a version of this song. Ella Fitzgerald released another.
10. By now you have seen everything in nine questions. The final answer is more than nothing, but less than everything. When you figure it out, you will have some answer. What is it? (The first letter of the first nine answers need to spell out the answer to question ten.)

Answer: something

Something can be described as the opposite of nothing. According to Wikipedia, both "something" and "nothing" can be considered pronouns. "The Something Challenge" would be an interesting FunTrivia challenge. Let me see if it's been suggested yet. If not, I just might post it...
