Though rarely given the credit, Demi was a bit of a pioneer while at the peak of her career in the 1990's. She was the first woman to demand the same salary and benefits as her male counterparts and the first to demand equal billing in the movie's credits. It was the 1996 flop "Striptease" in which she broke the $10 million mark, earning a salary of $12.5 million.
2. Television: What was the first sitcom to use a laugh track?

"The Hank McCune Show" lasted only half a season in 1950. McCune appeared in the 1956 movie "The Go Getters", but did little else in television or movies.

Answer: Fred Lynn

The California Angels Fred Lynn hit his bases loaded shot in the third inning of the 1983 All Star game at Chicago's Comisky Park. The American League won the game 13-3, breaking an 11 year winning streak for the National League.
4. Football: What two teams played in the first NFL playoff game featuring two black head coaches?

Answer: New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts

"Carrie", published in 1974, is the story of Carrie White, a shy teenage girl with a dangerously overprotective and abusive mother. The book was made into a movie starring Sissy Spacek in 1976.
6. US Presidents: Who was the first person elected President of the United States that was born in the twentieth century?

Answer: John F. Kennedy

In his inaugural address, Kennedy said, "We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans--born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage--and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world."
7. American Civil War: What was the first Southern state to secede from the Union?

Answer: South Carolina

Fearing the abolishment of slavery, South Carolina seceded from the Union on December 20, 1860, a month and a half after the election of Abraham Lincoln as president. Ten other states soon joined them and formed the Confederate States of America.
8. Pro Wrestling: Who was the first pro wrestler to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated?

9. Music: What year was the first Grammy Award given for "Best Disco Recording"?

Answer: 1980

Disco was on it's last legs by the time they came up with an award for it, one of the many times the Grammy Awards have shown their horrible sense of timing. Gloria Gaynor won the award at the 1980 ceremony for "I Will Survive", but the category was taken out for the 1981 awards show.
10. Ireland: Which of these movies was actually filmed in Ireland?

Answer: The Quiet Man

John Ford's "The Quiet Man", released in 1952, starred John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. It's the story of Sean Thornton, an Irishman returning from America to reclaim his homestead and escape his past. Answer: Charles Lindbergh

The other choices for the question were firsts of their own. Susanna Salter was the first woman elected mayor of a U.S. city (Argonia, Kansas), Jeanette Rankin was the first woman representative elected to the U.S. Congress, and Hattie Caraway was the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate.
15. Game Shows: Who was the first host of "Wheel of Fortune"?

Answer: Chuck Woolery
