Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Released in 2007 was the great song "Better Than" by the Australian band John Butler Trio. In it are the lyrics "So why, oh why do I look to the other side? 'Cos I know the grass is greener but.." Which of these completes this line?

Answer: Just as hard to mow

The song "Better Than" is on the album Grand National which was released in Australia in 2007. John Butler was born in California in 1975, and moved to Australia when he was eleven.

This is one of my favourite versions of the "grass is greener" quotes. One of my other favourites is "The grass isn't greener on the other side, it's greener where you water it"
2. Which rather disturbing 1973 film starred Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young and Chuck Connors?

Answer: Soylent Green

Soylent Green is set in the year 2022 in New York City where the population has become unmanageable, and that, combined with the Greenhouse effect, has meant food is becoming more and more scarce. The solution? A mysterious food substance called Soylent..
3. Which of these people is responsible for being the voice of Chris Griffin in "Family Guy", the character Mitch Miller in "That 70's Show" and the writing, production, direction and various voices for "Robot Chicken"?

Answer: Seth Green

Seth Green also played the character Oz in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" from 1997 - 2000, a werewolf who was in love with a witch, but cheated on her with another werewolf, so had to leave before he hurt her anymore. By the time he returned (cured) she had moved on and fallen in love with another witch. Ahhh, supernatural soapies; Gotta love 'em!
4. What is the name of the national organisation that campaigns for conservation, animal rights and peace?

Answer: Greenpeace

Greenpeace began campaigning in 1971 when a small boat sailed north of Alaska where underground nuclear tests were being performed to peacefully protest this action. Visit their website for more information about what this great organisation does.
5. Which of these country's flags does NOT feature the colour green?

Answer: Germany

Germany's flag consists of three horizontal stripes; Black at the top, then red, then gold. Ireland's flag has three vertical stripes; Green on the left, then white, then orange on the right. Hungary's flag is three horizontal stripes; Red on top, then white, then green on the bottom. Italy's flag has three vertical stripes; Green on the left, white in the middle, and red on the right.
6. Which band's albums include "Insomniac", "Nimrod" and "Dookie"?

Answer: Green Day

Green Day was formed in California in 1987, and consists of Billie-Joe Armstrong on lead vocals and guitar, Mike Dirnt on bass and vocals, and Tre Cool on percussion. Their major label debut album "Dookie", released in 1994, was hugely successful and has (in my opinion) some of the bands best songs... in fact, some of the best songs of the early 90's. "Welcome to Paradise", "Pulling Teeth" and "Basket Case" are some of my favourites.
7. Which book, made into a film in 1999, is the story of a very large man with a special 'gift' wrongly sentenced to death by electrocution for the killing of nine year old twin girls?

Answer: The Green Mile

This fantastic Stephen King story was originally released in six parts in the the form of "chapbooks". Mr. King explains in the foreword that he particularly liked the idea of releasing a story this way because he hates people skipping ahead to the last page to see how it turns out; an opinion I happen to agree with. I just remember the month or so between the release of each book was torture!
8. The following are all real crayon colours available from Crayola; Jungle Green, Electric Lime, Screamin' Green, Caribbean Green, Granny Smith Apple and Asparagus?

Answer: True

I've always loved the names Crayola give to their colours, so descriptive!

Information from http://www.crayola.com/colorcensus/history/chronology.cfm
9. What are the green leaves of 'Camellia sinensis' better known as?

Answer: Green Tea

Green tea originates in China, and I find it to be a surprisingly refreshing drink, especially on hot days. There are many different varieties, and it has enjoyed increasing popularity in Western culture.
10. In the song "It's Not Easy Being Green", which of the following does Kermit NOT think it would be nicer being?

Answer: Blue

"Or something more colourful like that."
The Muppets were created by Jim Henson (1936 - 1990) and he has brought joy and education to children all over the world, with his puppets appearing in "The Muppet Show", "Fraggle Rock", "The Dark Crystal", "Labyrinth" and possibly most loved of all, "Sesame Street"

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Henson:
"He was posthumously awarded the Courage of Conscience Award in 1992 for being a 'Humanitarian, muppeteer, producer and director of films for children that encourage tolerance, interracial values, equality and fair play.'"
