3. St George is the Patron Saint of England. Which day is St George's Day?

April 23rd is quite a busy and celebrated day in England.

The birth date of William Shakespeare, although not officially known, is also traditionally celebrated on April 23rd (he was baptised on 26th April 1564 and died on 23rd April 1616).

It is also the birth date of J.M.W. Turner (b. 23rd April 1775) who is considered one of Britain's greatest painters. The Turner prize, an annual prize presented to a British visual artist under the age of 50, is named after him and is one of the most publicised art awards in Britain.
4. When do the World Conker Championships take place?

Answer: October

Conkers are the hard, brown 'fruit' of the horse chestnut tree. A game is played where a hole is skewered or bored through the middle of the conker; then it is threaded on a piece of string and you take turns striking your conker against your opponent's conker. Whenever a conker breaks, the other is the winner.

The World Championships are held annually on the second Sunday in October in the village of Ashton near Oundle in Northamptonshire (England).
5. When does the Lord Mayor's Show in London take place?

Answer: November

Since 1189, there has been a Lord Mayor of London elected each year who represents the City of London, the traditional business centre. This refers to the Lord Mayor of the City of London, i.e. of the Square Mile not of the whole of (Greater) London.

Each year a new mayor is elected and by tradition must travel from the city to Westminster to promise to serve the king or queen (on the second Saturday in November).
6. When do the Last Night of the Proms take place?

Answer: September

The Proms is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events held annually, predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, London.

8. When is Royal Ascot?

Answer: June

9. When is Cowes Week?

Answer: August

Cowes Week has nothing to do with cows! It is reputedly the longest-running regular regatta in the world, having started in 1826.

The event is held on the Solent (the area of water between southern England and the Isle of Wight made tricky by strong double tides), in the small town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
10. When is the London International Boat Show?
