Answer: The Sky Tower

The Sky Tower is one of the tallest towers in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 metres. There are several viewing platforms and a couple of restaurants towards the top of the tower. Underneath the tower is Auckland's casino, the Sky City Casino.

The Waitemata Harbour separates the central Auckland isthmus from the northern suburbs. There are a variety of excellent day cruises out on the harbour. Port Nicholson is the harbour that Wellington is situated on.

Alas, this is not true. The Auckland Harbour Bridge only has lanes for motor vehicles - cars, motorbikes, trucks etc. Auckland Council did investigate installing a 'Sky Path' pedestrian and cycle way underneath the motor vehicle lanes but the project ran into significant engineering issues.

It is possible to climb the Harbour Bridge for sightseeing and to bungee jump off the Harbour Bridge.

When you leave from Auckland on an international flight, you are departing from the Jean Batten International Terminal. In 1934, Jean Batten smashed Amy Johnson's record for flying between England and Australia by six days. The following year, she was the first woman ever to fly back from Australia to England.

Then, in 1936, she made the first direct flight between England and New Zealand and achieved the fastest trans-Tasman flight time of that day between Australia and New Zealand. She is one of New Zealand's heroes.
