As Ulysses Grant was a General in the Union Army during the American Civil War, he is not one of the men carved onto the rock face of Stone Mountain. The other three options sit astride their horses facing forward. This enormous bas-relief carving is 305 ft. (93m) wide and 90 ft. (58m) high. 4. It has four faces with neither a nose nor an eye, but rather two hands per face to help the denizens of London, England keep track of time. What name is often erroneously given to the famous clock tower that graces the Palace of Westminster?

Answer: Big Ben

Big Ben held its 150th birthday party in 2009, having been constructed as part of the rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster, which had been mostly destroyed by fire in 1834. Architect Charles Barry designed the new palace with the tower in mind, but the actual clock tower was designed by Augustus Pugin, who did so in style with his Gothic Revival design. Big Ben was the last clock tower designed by Pugin, who soon after went mad, and died several months later.

The famous clock tower is approximately 14 storeys in height, made of brickwork with limestone cladding, and topped with a cast-iron spire. The name 'Big Ben' actually refers to the large bell within the clock tower, but has come to be generally accepted as the nickname of the clock itself.

In 2012, as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations, 'The Clock Tower' was officially renamed 'The Elizabeth Tower'.

Answer: Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Lincoln

Originally, it was intended that Jefferson's face be carved as the first in the row, but they found that the rock there was not suitable, and they moved Jefferson to Washington's other side.
