Eritrea is a country located in the eastern part of Africa, in the region known as the Horn of Africa. The country was long occupied by Italy until 1941, then the country was administrated by the British, until it was taken over by Ethiopia and it became one of that country's provinces. The capital of Peru is the city of Lima. It is located in the central part of the country, near the Pacific Ocean. It was founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535 and was originally called Ciudad de los Reyes or "City of Kings". The city of Iquitos is in the northeastern part of Peru on the Amazon river, in the rainforest. It was first established as a Jesuit mission around 1750.

The island state known as Samoa forms part of the larger Samoan archipelago. The eastern part is known as American Samoa and is an incorporated territory of the United States, meaning that the territory is governed by the United States, but is not a part of it. Puerto Rico is another example of this type of territory. The country that is now known as Samoa used to be called Western Samoa and became independent from New Zealand in 1962.

Samoa has two main islands, called Upola and Savai'i. The capital, Apia, can be found on the island of Upola. It is the largest city of Samoa and has been the capital since 1959. Samoa moved to the west of the International Date Line at the end of 2011. As a result Samoa skipped one day, leaving out the 30th of December altogether.

The country of Thailand is located in the southeastern part of the Asian continent. It was formerly called Siam. The name was changed to Thailand in 1939. After a brief renaming to Siam between 1945 and 1949, the country was once again called Thailand. The Thai people often refer to their country as "the land of the free", as it was one of the few countries in the region never to be controlled by a colonial power.

The capital of Thailand is the city of Bangkok, also the largest city in the country. The island of Phuket can be found off the west coast of Thailand. It forms one of the 78 provinces of Thailand. The island was severely damaged during the 2004 tsunami, after an earthquake in the Indian Ocean.

In 1936 Kyrgyzstan became an official republic within the Soviet Union or USSR. It was not until 1991 that the country finally became independent. It is located in the central part of the Asian continent, surrounded by other former states belonging to the USSR, such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The country is very mountainous, with mainly the Tian Shan and Pamir mountain systems dominating the country.

The city of Bishkek is the capital of the country and is located in the northern part of Kyrgyzstan, near the border with Kazakhstan. The city was founded in 1825 and briefly renamed Frunze from 1926 on. The formal name of Bishkek was restored in 1991.

The country known as Yugoslavia was first established in 1918 as a union of a few states and kingdoms in the Balkan region. Due to a violent civil war the country broke up in 1992. Part of the country went on to become the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, but was renamed to Serbia and Montenegro in 2003. In 2006 Montenegro became an independent country and so the remaining part officially was named the Republic of Serbia.

The city of Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and the largest city in the country, located on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers in the northern part of Serbia. It was the capital of Yugoslavia from 1918 and after the break up of this country, was the capital of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and then of Serbia and Montenegro.

Honduras is located in Central America and has been independent since 1821 after a period of Spanish rule. It was formerly known as Spanish Honduras to distinguish it from British Honduras, the country that was later renamed Belize. It is bordered by Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Much of Honduras consists of mountains, but there are also some lowland regions, such as La Mosquitia, a jungle region in the northeast.

The city of Tegucigalpa was founded in 1578 by the Spanish and became the capital of Honduras in 1880. It is located in the central part of Honduras in the highlands. The position of capital is shared with the twin sister Comayaguela.

Answer: Venezuela

Venezuela is a country located in the northern part of South America. It is bordered by Colombia, Guyana and Brazil. It was made a colony of Spain in 1522, but formally became independent from that country in 1821. After briefly belonging to the nation of Gran Colombia, it became fully independent in 1830. It has diverse geography with everything from mountains to lowlands. It houses one of the highest waterfalls in the world, Angel Falls.

The capital of Venezuela is the city of Caracas, founded in 1567 by Diego de Losada. It can be found in the northern part of the country. The city of Maracaibo is in the northwest, by the lake of the same name. It is considered the second largest city of Venezuela.

Answer: Madagascar

The island of Madagascar is located in the Indian Ocean, on the southeastern coast of Africa. The country not only consists of this island, but also several smaller islands, the largest ones being Nosy Be and Nosy Boraha. Madagascar was part of the French Colonial Empire from 1896, but became independent from 1960. The country is very popular with ecotourists, due to its diverse nature.

The capital of the country and also the largest city is Antananarivo. It is located in the center at the top of the summit of a ridge. It was founded in 1625 by King Andrianjaka.

Answer: Maldives

The island nation of the Maldives can be found in the Indian Ocean. It is formed by a total of 26 atolls, further dived by several coral islands. The atolls are grouped in a total of 21 administrative divisions. The geography of the Maldives is diverse with several ecosystems, most notably the various coral reefs.

The capital of Malé is found in the southern part of the North Malé atoll. This atoll forms a part of the Kaafu Atoll, in terms of administrative divisions. It was traditionally the place where the Maldive Royals resided.
