City Nicknames in the Netherlands Quiz

Some cities in the Netherlands have nicknames, often for reasons that I am often not aware of (if YOU do, please let me know). I give you the nickname, you give me the city. Good luck!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sleutelstad (Key City)

Answer: Leiden

Leiden has the oldest university in Holland and played an important role in the Dutch war of liberation against the Spanish. I do however not know if this has anything to do with the nickname.
2. Koekstad (Cake City)

Answer: Deventer

Deventer is in the province of Overijssel and famous for its book markets. I think Boekenstad (Book City) would be a more appropriate name...
3. Keistad (Big Stone City)

Answer: Amersfoort

Amersfoort is in the middle of the country. I have been there a few times, but I have never seen any big stone there.
4. Lichtstad (City of Lights)

Answer: Eindhoven

This nickname has been given to Eindhoven because this was the place where Mr. Philips started his electric lamps industry at the end of the 19th century. Paris has the same nickname, but is the capital of France and does not belong to this quiz.
5. Oeteldonk (no translation possible other than Ootledonk)

Answer: Den Bosch

Oeteldonk (a nonsense name as far as I know) is the name given to Den Bosch during Carnival. Every city and village in the southern part of the country (where Carnival is popular) has its own Carnival nickname.
6. Mokum (Place)

Answer: Amsterdam

Mokum is the name the Jewish population gave to Amsterdam.
7. Rotjeknor (no translation possible other than Rótchecanór)

Answer: Rotterdam

Rotjeknor is a nonsense name as far as I know.
8. Ljouwert (no translation possible, even for Dutch almost impossible to pronounce correctly).

Answer: Leeuwarden

Ljouwert is the Frisian name for the capital of the province Friesland (which is Fryslan in Frisian).
9. Striepersgat (Village of Cigar Makers)

Answer: Valkenswaard

Striepersgat is the Carnival nickname of Valkenswaard. Every city and village in the southern part of the country (where Carnival is popular) has its own Carnival nickname. If I am correct, a "strieper" is someone who makes cigars. Valkenswaard (my place of birth by the way) used to have some big factories of cigars.
10. Domstad (Dome City)

Answer: Utrecht

Utrecht has a famous Dome, as does Keulen (Cologne), but this city is in Germany, so it does not belong to this quiz.
