1. Found in the east (with the local football team having a strong rivalry with Norwich City), Ipswich is located in which county?

Answer: Suffolk

Ipswich is in the mid-east of England and is the county town of Suffolk. Norwich is the county town of Norfolk, which is adjacent to Suffolk, hence the rivalry.
2. Portsmouth is found on the south coast and is the second largest city in which county?

Answer: Hampshire

Portsmouth is a major port in England. The city is nicknamed Pompey and the docks are used extensively by the Royal Navy. The largest city in Hampshire is Southampton.
3. Kingston-upon-Hull is a large city on the east coast; in which county does it reside?

Answer: Yorkshire

Kingston-upon-Hull, or Hull as it is more commonly known, is found in East Yorkshire. It was moved to Humberside when Humberside was formed, but was returned to Yorkshire when Humberside ceased to be a county in 1996.

Answer: Cornwall

Truro is the nearest city to Land's End in the UK, and is a relatively small city in terms of population. It is the only city found in Cornwall.

Answer: Darlington

Darlington is very close to the North Yorkshire border, but is actually found in County Durham. Rotherham is found in South Yorkshire and is not far from the city of Sheffield. Likewise, Barnsley is another town found near Sheffield in South Yorkshire, as well as being close to Leeds in West Yorkshire. Wakefield lies just south of Leeds in West Yorkshire.
9. Now for the penultimate question: Liverpool is a major port, located on the west of England and isn't far from the Isle of Man, but which county is it in?

Answer: Merseyside

Historically, Liverpool was found in Lancashire, however, since 1974, Liverpool has been in Merseyside. The county and city have a rich footballing culture, emphasised by the Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton.
10. Northampton has a large population, but is still designated just a town. In which county is it located?

Answer: Northamptonshire
