Brunei is located in the South China Sea on the island of Borneo. Its population is roughly half a million people and the official language is Malay. The country is rich in oil and natural gas.

Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, the smallest being Vatican City. Located on the coast of the Mediterranean, it is bordered on three sides by France. Monaco is about the size of New York city's Central Park. People there have one of the world's highest life expectancies--close to 90, and definitely one of the highest literacy rates at 100%.

Somalia is considered semi-arid, and only about 1.64% of the land is arable. It is located on the east coast of Africa right next to Ethiopia. The official language is Arabic. The population is a little over 11 million.

Landlocked in central Africa, CHAD is the country hidden within "SCHADenfreude is the glee felt over someone's misfortune." N'Djamena is its capital.

European explorers discovered Lake Chad in 1823. It is the second largest wetland in all of Africa, and its depth does not exceed 26 feet. Chad has been called the "Dead Heart of Africa" because of its mostly desert climate and great distance from the ocean.

Formerly known as Abyssinaia, ETHIOPIA is the country concealed in "To the heavens comETH I, OPIAtes in hand begging for a cure." Addis Abada is Ethiopia's capital.

Sharing land borders with Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Kenya, Ethiopia is located in the northeast region of Africa. Some of the oldest modern human bones and fossils have been discovered in Ethiopia, pointing to it as the region where Homo sapiens first set out for the Middle East region and lands beyond.

A landlocked county is southeast Asia, Laos shares borders with China, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Its population is around six and a half million people and its area is over 89,000 square miles.

Hard to imagine but Rome started out as a small farming community 1,000 or so years BC, and developed into a world power on the Italian peninsula conquering most of the known world. Italy has more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than any other country with over 40.

Honduras shares borders with Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and the Gulf of Mexico. The population is over eight million people, and unfortunately they are faced with a country that has the highest murder rate in the world: 171 per 100,000 in 2015.

Palau is an island nation, well, consisting of over 250 islands really, located 500 miles south of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean. Amongst those islands there are 3,334 species of plants native to Palau. Eleven countries around the world have never had temperatures below freezing--Palau is one of them.

Namibia has an Atlantic Ocean coastline situated there in West Africa. Although English is the official language, Afrikaans and German are also widely spoken. Namibia's Namib-Naukluft National Park is the largest game reserve in Africa.
