The 4th plinth of Trafalgar Square has become quite famous in a sense that there has been no suitable figure to place on it, it seems like this modern age is no longer and age of military heroics. In 1999 it was decided to use the plinth for modern art, the artwork changing periodically. For a while it had a waxwork effigy of David Beckham to celebrate the world cup, an artistic sculpture called 'Alison Lapper Pregnant' by Marc Quinn sat there a while, while a blue rooster stood proudly there in 2013.
