Formerly part of Yugoslavia, Montenegro is located in Southern Europe along the Adriatic coast. Like Montenegro, many of its neighbouring countries - Croatia, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, were also earlier part of Yugoslavia before its dissolution in the early 1990s.

The name Montenegro is derived from the Venetian for Black Mountain, alluding to the appearance of Mount Lovcen when viewed from Venice, across the Adriatic Sea.

Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory located in the Caribbean Sea. It is nicknamed "The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean Sean", partly a homage to the Irish heritage of a significant number of the population, and partly due to its lush vegetation. The island was named by Christopher Columbus after the Virgin of Montserrat, a title given to the statue of Mary in the monastery of Montserrat.

The Montserrat is a mountain range in Catalonia, Spain and translates to 'serrated mountain' in Catalan.

Located along the Mediterranean Sea, Monte Carlo is frequented by the rich and famous for its various casinos and other forms of entertainment. The first casino was established in 1862, after Charles III of Monaco provided a concession for the construction of a bathing facility that would function as a health centre and separately for a casino.

Bergen is Norway's second largest city and a major tourist destination in the country. The city has been an important trade centre since historical times with shipping and more recently oil and gas being main revenue generators. Berg means mountains and the name Bergen is translated to the 'meadow between the mountains'. Playwright Ludvig Holberg is credited with coining the nickname 'city of seven mountains', inspired by Rome being the city built on seven hills.

Located in the south of France on the Mediterranean coast, Montpellier has been an important city centre since the Middle Ages. The University of Montpellier was founded in the early 13th century and is one of the oldest in the world. Famous alumni include the astrologer Nostradamus whose predictions have been followed for centuries.

Some etymologists believe the name Montpellier to be tuatological with pela being an indigenous word to refer to a hill and mons being the Latin word for mountain.

Answer: Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon was the family home of George Washington, the USA's first president. It is located in Fairfax County, Virginia along the banks of the Potomac River. The estate was named by Washington's older brother after his commanding officer, Vice Admiral Edward Vernon. Mount Vernon was designated as a US National Historic Landmark in 1960.

Answer: Montevideo

Montevideo is Uruguay's capital and largest city. It is the southernmost capital city of the Americas and lies along the Rio de la Plata. There is no consensus on the origin of the city's name. Monte refers to the hill that overlooks the Bay of Montevideo, however, the origin of the 'video' part is not conclusive.

A popular version is that a crew member on Ferdinand Magellan's voyage exclaimed "Monte vide eu" (translates to "I saw a mount") on seeing the hill which led to the name of the city. However, experts don't regard this as feasible seeing that it involves a mixture of dialects and a mispronunciation to arrive at this conclusion.
