Answer: Bassenthwaite Lake

Bassenthwaite Lake lies to the west of the Skiddaw massif. At one time Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake were joined forming one massive lake. The section of land that houses Keswick and Portinscale used to be part of this huge lake.

Answer: Foxes Tarn

Foxes Tarn is located on Scafell, England's second highest mountain.
3. Innominate Tarn on Haystacks is one of the most famous tarns in the Lakes. What was its original name?

Answer: Loaf Tarn

Innominate Tarn was Alfred Wainwright's favourite spot in the Lakes and his ashes are scattered there.

Most of the Lake District fell into the "Old County" of Westmoreland. The Coniston group of fells is further south than the rest of the Lakes and fell into Lancashire. Currently, the entire Lake District National Park is in Cumbria.
